@RockettLord The best part is that you feel it in your feet first (because sound travels faster in a solid than in air). And that the sound is *way* behind the visuals. I watched a Titan IVB at VAFB - the rocket was already thousands of feet up through the cloud deck when the sound started.

@randallmbriggs 111 is from 2005. The movie is from 2014 (prob animated in 2013), so that was probably an older catalog the artist had “inherited” from someone.

@AJamesMcCarthy Except the Moon is just rising, so it’s probably in the wrong direction. It was an excellent view from the San Fernando Valley. Even illuminated the top of the clouds over the coast.

@amdownen @sweatystartup Even for screening tests, the false positive problem is large. Say you have a 0.1% false positive rate for some rare (1 in 10,000 chance) horrible disease. If you test 10,000 people, you’ll have way more false positives (10) than real positives (1).

@JulieChangRE Historically the trade was lower pay and less flexibility on raises and bonuses. Step and grade changes are per the table

@ErikYesayan Total nonstarter - you have to figure out to have people who live on beach side of PCH be able to park. There’s no viable “street” parking. On the land side (apartments and such), yeah, parking lots work. But nobody is going to walk across PCH to park.

@meliandee @sebatlab Government rules (and laws?) prohibit subsidizing cost reimbursement grants/contracts. That’s to prevent “buying in” to win an initial contract so you can lock-in follow ones. What endowments do is provide capital for investment to build facilities, that get “rented” to the grant

@innoutburger_ No need - they already have lines down the block. And they don’t need a fancy commercial to stroke their ego.
