Lightfoot says CPD "learned a lot" from May 29 weekend, and "put what they learned into practice." CPD knocked out Miracle Boyd's teeth in July, attacked and kettled nonviolent protesters in August, and attacked a small nonviolent protest at the Mexican consulate in September.

In 2017, a CPD officer held a gun to a man's head and pistol-whipped him until he was apparently unconscious. COPA recommended that officer and two others be fired as a result of the incident in March 2021. They still haven't been.

Arwady: I would ask school nurses to be willing to be part of testing, case investigation, contact tracing in CPS. we can commit to getting more testing resources there. We’ve already got that well underway. We got PCR results from that first day of school coming back in 24 hours

This was earlier in the day when police and protesters were pushing back and forth on a barricade police put up. This was going on most of the day, though from what I saw, officers Callahan and Schmitz seemed to get the most aggressive with protesters on the line.

At the School of the Art Institute, CPD made 68 arrest after students set up a small nonviolent protest camp. In some cases officers shoved, hit, and roughly pulled students and supporters to the ground.
