New Yearâs Day Geomagnetic activity is building up, so if you have clear skies and a view of the northern sky between the clouds from northern England or Scotland it would be worth a peak.

As expected, most UK sky watchers were clouded-out on New Yearâs Eve, but a few folks got lucky under that break in the clouds! Great shot here from @GazMcIntyre đ
Some signs that the expected solar coronal mass ejections are approaching Earth. We can expect some heightened geomagnetic activity in the coming hours but disturbances arenât forecast to be especially strong. Besides, chances are that UK weather will thwart aurora-spotting!
