Great shot by ESPNU of the embrace between Cathy Reese and Erica Evans. Evans missed her senior year at Canisius with a torn ACL, allowing her to transfer to Maryland for a shot at a national championship. Mission complete.
I'm going to be honest, this is a solid draw for Maryland. Playing in Jacksonville the first weekend, the No. 3 seed LSU in flux and the potential to play in DC in the Sweet 16.
Tonight was a game Maryland figured out how to lose last year. With a much younger team, the Terps have already won more road games than it did all of last season.
In my 4 years at Maryland, this is the men's soccer team I least expected to take home a national title. What a masterful coaching job by Sasho Cirovski to get this team back to the mountain top.
A reminder for Maryland fans:
Players can hire an agent and still return to school. The deadline to cut ties with an agent without losing eligibility is May 29.

Michigan is officially SOLD OUT!!!
Don't miss one of the last 3 home games, limited availability left for Ohio State (2/23) and Minnesota (3/8):
Won't get the credit in the box score, but Darryl Morsell was the unsung hero of the first half. He played strong defense on Joe Wieskamp before he picked up two fouls, then switched to Tyler Cook once Fernando and Smith picked up two fouls.
Some personal news: In one week, I'm starting a job as the local sports reporter for
@theScoutnews
. My journey to a full-time job has been a long time coming, and it wouldn't be possible without the people who kept encouraging me and letting me freelance over the past two years.
I’ve spent the past 188 days fighting to save Big 10 football. Today, we accomplished the mission.
Much like the Osama Bin Laden raid or D-Day, you never know when your number will be called to serve. All you hope for is to execute your job and the mission.
We did just that.
I know Nebraska is slumping but this is a key win for Maryland. The Terps pulled away against a desperate team, and get what should be a quadrant 1 win for the rest of the season.
In Aberdeen tonight where Adley Rutschman just hit his first homerun for the Ironbirds. Was an absolute bomb and no-doubter as soon as it left the bat.
Mark Turgeon deserves a lot of criticism for his team's offense down the stretch, but if you think his play out of the timeout was Anthony Cowan heaving a desperation 3 then I don't know what to tell you.
You can criticize Mark Turgeon for the roster construction, but you can't criticize him for the coaching job he's done this year. This team has found its identity and looks to be headed to another NCAA Tournament bid.
I can't tell if Big Ten refs are going full Big Ten refs so far, but this crowd certainly thinks so. Maryland has four fouls at the U-16 TO, and Michigan has none.
Mark Turgeon has said the first place he looks when he comes out for a game is the student section. If he was out there right now, he'd be incredibly disheartened. This is The Wall less than 20 minutes before game time.
I'm pretty if Maryland was ranked No. 2 and getting drilled like Michigan is tonight, Terps fans would want to ban Mark Turgeon not just from the state of Maryland, but from the entire Mid-Atlantic region.
So it's become more clear in the past few minutes, but Maryland has wanted no part of Illinois since the beginning of the second half. The Terps have been outplayed and outhustled on both ends of the floor.
Leave it to Maryland fans to find any reason to blame Mark Turgeon after the technical foul and switch to zone brought the Terps to the brink of the Sweet 16 after they looked unraveled.
Head coach John Tillman postgame on Connor Kelly: "If there's a better player out there, I haven't seen him. Certainly not trying to promote our guys, but I haven't seen anyone who has as big an impact on any team."
Ready to give up on Maryland basketball? Well don't do it just yet. Brenda Frese has a team that's No. 9 in the country and averages 91.5 points per game. Not too late to jump on the women's basketball bandwagon.
Rob Hiaasen's wife taught English and journalism at my high school and was one of the best teachers I've ever had. I met him last year at the Merrill Career Fair and it was easy to see his passion for journalism and helping young reporters. The news community lost a great one.
I'm a little late on this, but happy to say I'll be providing some minor league coverage for
@BMoreBaseball
. Here's my debut piece, which is about Bowie LHP Zac Lowther, who continues to impress in Double-A. Remember the name.
That's the best half of basketball Maryland's had in a while. However, it needs to keep the foot on the gas to start the second half. That's been a problem for the last month.
Byron Cowart is headed to New England after being selected by the Patriots in the 5th round. Here's what the NFL's version of the Evil Empire is getting.
