But the Girl is out in the US today :). It's a book about Plath and academia and immigrant families. It was acquired by @blgtylr which means you have to read it.

Plath fans-- or anyone who loves a good novel-- do yourselves a favor and get "But the Girl," by Jessica Zhan Mei Yu, which is an ingenious, very meta retelling of The Bell Jar. I am almost finished and I can't say enough good things about it.

But the Girl has just come out in paperback in the UK with @vintagebooks and my agent just sent me a picture of it on a display table in @Waterstones Piccadilly. :) :)

@secondshelfbks @VanityFair Ah - thanks for sharing this!! I didn't even get to reference this skirt in mine but it's so emblematic of Plath's style as I understand it - "prim, neat, polite" as this piece in the Guardian says.
