When I was an EMT in Wisconsin we weren't allowed to declare death. Had to transport so doctor at hospital could make the call. This seems like exactly the kind of situation that they made that rule to avoid.

I know this is a cheap dunk but it looks like some are responding seriously so it's worth pointing out this is mostly down to deaths in youth that are not gonna be related to eating or healthcare.
Deaths in youth are the driver for the vast majority of America's poor life expectancy btw. If you can make it to 75, America is very comparable if not slightly better than peer countries.
But drugs, guns, and cars kill us young.
