Today I was very lucky to snap photos of the special
@CanadianPacific
executive passenger train heading east over the East Don River bridge in Toronto. The only modern piece of equipment in the consist is the first locomotive, painted up in a heritage scheme. Too cool! 😀

Again looking through the old photos I took, I came across one of The Canary restaurant in 2003, which was in the building still standing on the SE corner of Cherry & Front Sts. I've loved the interesting building & its roughed-up neon sign since first seeing it in the late 1980s

Toronto's famous Palace Pier was destroyed by fire on this day in 1963 (Jan 7)
The aging event space was at risk of demolition from its earliest days. Construction began in 1927 but the venue didn't open until 1941, nine years after it was completed.

in 1930, (Aug. 11) the largest aircraft to have visited Toronto, (as big as Union Station) twice circled Toronto. 'His Majesty's Airship' R-100 had made its way across the Atlantic Ocean to Canada on a promotional trip, & the population of Toronto was mesmerized. 1/5
