@nevslin i think every single episode of US television should have someone go bankrupt from medical bills until that embarrassment is fixed. hawaii 5-0. bankrupt. ncis. bankrupt. sarah connor - i've been sent from 2029 to collect on your future medical bills.

@OfficialLoganK why is 1206 so good? one of the best non-reasoning models i've seen, yet i've rarely heard it mentioned. seems to have a different vibe than the rest of the Gemini models, too.

@snscaimito @awilkinson AI can already do more than the basics, though, if you choose the right models. as for court, what percentage of lawyers are actual litigators? most are transactional or corporate.

@BasedStatistic @KevinNaughtonJr not a SWE, but that's exactly what i do. also keep a Google Doc that tracks any random stuff that i might forget with links - obscure libraries, audio plug-ins, etc. i only restore from a backup with a failure on the same machine.

@martin_casado very cool. as it gets closer to the beer glasses, you can see for a short time what looks like a 'stitch', although obviously isn't if it's Gen AI 3D. makes me wonder about the model's training data, though.

@levelsio and a reason art won't be impacted by AI in the way some think. the audience matters, not just content. when FB bought IG, some people i knew thought they overpaid with $1b for 'a bunch of crappy filters'. they didn't understand they bought an entire community for only $1b.

@Brian_Ashcraft @MacaesBruno people in Taiwan love it when you do that! i mean, i've only connected through the airport in Taipei - but i still feel super qualified to speak about the culture. ah, to experience the American-influence free Japan. ラッキーな。。。

@dieworkwear yeah, i'm sure people would be more than happy to build that if you wanted it, but why? a nice Japanese train ride on the other hand…

@jbhuang0604 i love everything about the APT video (and song). while it's not even the central focus of the video, my favorite example of cool undercranking in a video is pro'ly by @okgo:

@jbhuang0604 so good. also love the exaggerated movements and undercranked look. it all makes for an amazing vibe when sped back up. maybe similar approach to Akerlund's Ray of Light for Madonna, although he over and undercranked for different shots.

@emollick yeah, i think 2-4 are pretty underrated. instead, studies often have a myopic focus on narrow failures with not enough thought spent on (5) how can we improve system resilience and how it deals with fallibility (whether it's from humans or AI).

@Koi_no_Nao @R44D @_shiopan also, walk through midtown at 11pm on tues or walk through kabukicho at 11pm on tues. kabukicho is pro'ly louder. or in shibuya wait until a political sound truck pulls up with loudspeakers blaring.

@emollick i think AGI is more 'just' beat the average human at every intellectual task? ASI would be all humans. so i don't know if AGI translates into, 'can build a trading algo more effective than the collective intelligence of the best group of quants in the world.'

@lainewrites and that you hopefully adapt to adversity in similar or (even better) complementary ways. many people can adapt to change, but real adversity can reshape people (and their relationships) in unexpected ways.

@kevinroose @joshwhiton i was also surprised it wasn't heralded and studied more - it seemed groundbreaking. @kevinroose do you think your chat would look the same if you were talking with a person who expressed similar discomfort? (eg. a survivor of a traumatic event you were interviewing, etc)

@jakeadelstein this is the best tip. not just supermarkets, but depachika, etc. even the bakery at the bottom of the Park Hyatt used to do this - when i lived nearby i'd stop by right when everything went on sale.
