I’m in a Gr 4 classroom, 15 min left in the school day. The T suggests we play a super quick game. I was going to suggest Number Boxes, but it would take a few min to explain the rules. The teacher had a better suggestion: “take out a whiteboard and a marker. Drawing contest!”

I was skeptical. A drawing contest? So many ways this could end badly. “You’re going to draw a snowman!” The T announced. Kids started making nice, fat circles. “Oops, I forgot one thing…” @fawnpnguyen @NatBanting “You need to draw with the whiteboard balanced on your head.”

This morning, I’m in a workshop on social justice & math with Prof Shannon Dillard. We started by estimating how to place 25 chips by population around a world map, and then adjusted based on actual figures. Then we distributed Hershey kisses based on wealth. Love this visual.

@flickeringICE @JeffyJerusalem @lenibriscoe Hillary! 💕 Were you a sophomore transfer? I would have thought you would have freshman when Hillary HT and I were seniors. This whole thing is weird. Legit, she was very friendly and nice.

Apparently my 6yo played “Roll and Record” at school recently: roll two dice, then write the number on the chart. @Inv3_Math Writing “7” is so mid. My son decided to play “Roll and Illustrate an Elaborate Battle Scene.”

@bobsonwong @cluzniak In grades 7 & 8 at my school, we let Ss bring a small index card worth of notes to a test. I think that the creation of this index card can be an act of studying itself, and it also forces them to consolidate their thinking/determine what is most essential for them to have.

We were generating things we know about polygons in grade 3. One kid just told me “I think fractals should be called infinigons!”😍😍😍
