But this is patently inane.
It is true that death is death. But there is obviously a vast difference between a deliberate genocidal slaughter and death resulting from the slaughterer’s decision to use civilians as human shields so he can slaughter again.
This isn’t hard.
In response to criticism about seeking arrest warrants for both Hamas and Israeli leaders, the ICC tells me its mandate is solely focused on putting victims at the same level... equivalence of victim not alleged perpetrator

Too much blather, too little rigor.
Wow, some friends and followers are getting a Twitter warning that the cover of my book "Bad News: How Woke Media Is Undermining Democracy" "may contain sensitive content" or "includes potentially sensitive content." Absolutely crazy.
According to Columbia University faculty, burning innocents alive must be “contextualized.” According to other faculty, “exhilarating” and “inspiring”.
As for so many others who hold themselves out as “progressives”, it’s cool.
Not a problem.
They’re down with it.
A terrific book, more than a bit sobering about the cynicism of on-the-make media, ambitious pols prepared to claw past those they regard as in their way, and some apparent dissemblers.
Also tough to put down, even if you don’t live in New York.
New York Times goes big on a story about how all of 80 unidentified, anonymous and therefore unverifiable employees of the United States government, which employs millions, supposedly signed a protest letter about Gaza.
Agenda-less journalism at its finest.
Cowardice! If you have problem with the policy you are meant to represent, then resign. Or make your name public. I hate these stupid anonymous letters.
A look inside the terror tunnel found under Shifa hospital in Gaza.
Hamas was drawing power and using communications wires from the hospital to run its operations.

Let’s face it: uncomfortable as it is, especially at this perilous time for both the United States and for Israel, for different reasons, former Governor Cuomo is saying publicly what a lot of loyal Democrats are saying to one another privately.
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo:
Jewish donors “too silent” on increasing critics of Israel, “allowing the Democratic Party to do this and still supporting the Democratic Party.”
In podcast with Shmuley Boteach, Cuomo said Jews should “demand more” of party leaders on Israel support

What is monstrous, of course, is Hamas’ deliberate, calibrated decision to both slaughter Jews and bring about the slaughter of the Palestinians it uses as human shields.
What is intellectually bankrupt is whitewashing, enabling, defending and, effectively, endorsing this.
"Contrary to the apartheid charge leveled against Israel in general and Israeli academic institutions in particular, we saw precisely the opposite."
Powerful op-ed by 25 professors from leading U.S. universities, who just returned from visit to Israel.
And then , of course, there’s those pesky numbers in Israel: 1400 butchered to death, and 5000 or so merely butchered.
We would not want to omit them, would we?
The recommendation "should be required reading for" fill-in-the-blank is a cliche. But
@PreetBharara
's book "Doing Justice" fits the bill, and not just for every lawyer and would-be lawyer.
.
@joekennedy
combines a visceral, passionate identification with the underdog, the “other”, the excluded, with a smart, nuanced knowledgeable commitment to Israel. Those are the reasons for that letter.
Excruciating to look at. God-awful in every way.
But so many—and especially those who hold themselves out as progressives—need to know that it is precisely this that is being “contextualized”, whitewashed, justified, defended, and even embraced.
This cannot be tolerated.

She went to Columbia two days ago, after a student leader vowed to kill Jews, and praised the wonderful student leadership.
Now she blames the Mayor and the University.
If any kid is hurt tonight, responsibility will fall on the mayor and univ presidents.
Other leaders and schools have found a safe, de-escalatory path. This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety. A nightmare in the making.
I urge the Mayor to reverse course.

Miss you, dad. Happy birthday. ❤️
Those holding themselves out as progressives need to do a whole lot better if they can’t bring themselves to unambiguously condemn hundreds of Hamas rockets fired at civilians.
If it is unacceptable, then what, precisely, is Israel supposed to do about it? Should it permit it to happen again? And then again after that?
We require more than blather, particularly from those who have excused Hamas’ murder of Israeli civilians over and over.
Our shared humanity is on the line.
The murder of innocent Israeli civilians at the hands of Hamas is horrific and unacceptable.
The response to horrific terrorism cannot be mass death of innocent Palestinians.
Israel must follow international law and protect civilians.
Rather than demand that Hamas return the hostages they kidnapped, let us by all means ensure that they are able to repeat the October 7th slaughter again and again, as they promise to do.
Sounds smart.

@chrislhayes
: “There is no terrorist attack, no matter how horrific—and truly Oct. 7 was horrific—that can wash clean what we are seeing in Gaza and what we as Americans and our government are abetting. It must end. We must stop it.”

This appears to be the moment when Hamas kidnapped the Bibas family on October 7th.
Dear Columbia University faculty members: Have a look at Shiri Bibas’ face.
This what you are supporting.
The Bibas family, including 10-months-old Kfir, 4-year-old Ariel and their mother Shiri were abducted by Hamas on October 7.
Hamas must be held accountable.
Hamas must release all hostages immediately.
