Appreciate the invitation to speak on advocacy issues at the @ASMBSNY1 meeting with my good friends @RPetersonMD and @marinakurian. The program was awesome and learned a lot about issues that our patients face every day. And NYC at Christmas is spectacular.

@PresAmerMed I am very disturbed that our AMA has gone silent on the healthcare crisis in North Carolina and Georgia in the wake of Helene. Our social media presence makes zero reference to this disaster. Hospitals are destroyed. Patients are suffering. Why is the AMA is silent.

@CEO_AMA why is the AMA tweeting about canker sores when there is a true healthcare crisis underway in North Carolina and Georgia? Where is the voice of the AMA? Even the Foundation is silent on this. These are terrible optics for the House of Medicine. We. Can. Do. Better.

@AMAFound @AmerMedicalAssn another day = another day of social media silence from the AMA on the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Eastern North Carolina and Georgia from Helene.

@AmerMedicalAssn As a HOD member, I am saddened and shocked that the AMA's social media presence does not mention the suffering of patients and physicians in areas affected by Helene. We can do better as an organization. We need help in Asheville and Augusta. Where are you?

For those of you that know me, I’m a South Carolina surgeon, and I love my state and my neighbors. Our region has been devastated by Helene and our ASMBS members and patients are in dire need of help. Help support relief efforts with the TREO Foundation.

@ASMBS our resolution had no opposition in testimony in the resolution committee this morning with lots of PRO comments. Looks favorable. Our fingers are crossed that the reference committee won’t alter the spirit of the resolution tonight. Off to San Diego tomorrow.
