@Authw8 Feels pleasingly meta that the link to an iq test on meta is itself an iq test.

@AliceFromQueens No, tho imo those early moves are red meat for the base and have little correlation with what they’re really after

@AliceFromQueens First proposals aren’t due until April tbf. Unclear to me how swing senate votes will fall, but imo most are still underestimating the ambition here.

@AliceFromQueens I’m a centrist Canuck haha. Fwiw tho I agree with lots of your takes but not sure I follow this one. Do you think DOGE won’t propose heavy cuts? That Congress won’t pass them?

@eringriffith The offer is less because the offer isn't for the private company. It's a for a bundle of assets currently housed in the non-profit.

@Austen @JoelKatz The bid is just for assets owned by the non-profit. See gist here.

For those unclear on why it’s incorrect: the bid isn’t for “OpenAI” as a whole. It’s for a bundle of assets currently housed in the OpenAI non-profit. See screenshots.

The counterpoint imo is that the current structure incentivizes more risk taking and more total active investment. And in a batting average game that means more total tax receipts across all tax types. So while it may be fairer in some sense to remove the exemptions, when this comes at the cost of increased passive investment and less x-unicorns then we’re worse off on net.

@music_data_guy @jessesingal See below. But afaict teams of two have supervised read access to understand the codebase and sync the data to an approved AIP for their audit. We have no real evidence of some free for all. Plus they knew judicial review was coming.

@NOYGC212 @jessesingal Agree! But none of these guys have been let loose unsupervised as such. Read the EOs, court filings. and clarifications to Congress etc, not the third-hand rumor reporting. There are guardrails.

@mrfboyer Yeah these accounts just shill products that add marginal real value. I’m a full-time nomad and outside of learning how to pack well, just go and vibe and it’s fine. Over-planning inhibits all the magic.

@jobhunter50 Yeah tbf welcoming is a bit subjective. It’s not the overt gregariousness of eg the American Midwest. Service staff can be sort of neutral. But overall they treat tourists well imo and are friendly when you get them going. Tho on shorter trips variance can be high!

@ComanDante2063 @elonmusk This is an aside to the point here, but anyway timeshare sales folks don’t give you nine days. Is that enough? I’d have done maybe 14 with two weekends. But idk that the numbers would come out that different.

Whether you like or dislike what DOGE is doing, I hope we can agree that people facing a very difficult choice here deserve honest reporting to help them in their decisions!
