It’s been a horrific week and I’m fearful what is coming will be even more catastrophic unless the world especially the U.S. stop Israel from committing mass atrocities not seen since the 1948 and 1967 wars. My take on the unfolding catastrophe.

No matter who wins, it’s deeply concerning that millions more Americans chose to support Trump since 2016 despite his clear record of mishandling the pandemic, endorsing racism, violence and misogyny, dehumanizing migrants, and defying scientists and public health experts.
We repeatedly warned against Trump’s authoritarianism but this move is very dangerous and seriously threatens basic civil liberties and human rights. He is promoting white supremacy agenda and abusing presidential powers.
In an unprecedented move, the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Michael Brown, supported by over 600 groups are demanding

to convene a special session to address police violence and repression of protests in the U.S. .
ACLU to 650 college and university leaders: Reject calls to investigate, disband, or penalize pro-Palestinian student groups for exercising their free speech rights.
This is a blatant call for extrajudicial killings. Law enforcement and the National Guard should disobey unlawful orders to use lethal force when there is no imminent threat to life.

It’s quite rare if not unprecedented for a member of Congress to introduce legislation to protect basic human rights as recognized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights which the United States signed in 1977 but has yet to ratify. Kudos to you

Israel has only ever been a democracy for its Jewish citizens. What we are witnessing today is an internal Israeli Jewish struggle over who will administer an apartheid regime over the Palestinians, not a genuine fight for democracy for all.

Very disappointing that Birmingham Civil Rights Institute decided to rescind its decision to honor Angela Davis. Calling to boycott Israel for violating int’l law and human rights is not only a constitutionally protected right, but also the right thing to do.

Israel's normalization deals with the UAE and Bahrain will not bring peace to the Middle East. If anything, they will only embolden oppressive regimes and encourage abuses of international law. 1/
If they were Israeli Jewish kids killed by rockets fired from Gaza their death would be front page story on every American newspaper and members of Congress would be up in arms asserting Israel’s right to defend itself.
I was there and it was a spontaneous silent protest motivated by deep frustration and outrage over inadequate US delegation replies to the UN Human Rights Committee on various domestic and foreign policy human rights issues including … 1/
At the UN Human Rights Committee, a huge number of the participants turned their backs on US Ambassador Michelle Taylor in protest against Israel's bombing of Gaza.
The shadow of Palestine looms over them.
That’s right. Torture is also a federal and int’l crime and is categorically prohibited under the Convention Against Torture and the Geneva Conventions which were ratified by United States and thus considered the supreme law of the land under the U.S. Constitution.
Listen, you can defend torture, or you can defend the Constitution. Not both. The 8th Amendment explicitly forbids torture with all forms of cruel and unusual punishment. To defend torture is to attack the Constitution.
William Barr is one of the worst U.S. Attorneys General in modern history.
And by the way, he would have spent Christmas with his family anyway. Meanwhile, hundreds of migrant kids who are still separated from their families will not be having a happy holiday.
Make no mistake, U.S. is enabling the starvation of civilians in Gaza. By defunding UNRWA while continuing its military aid to Israel, Congress and President Biden are unapologetically confirming the United States is aiding and abetting mass atrocities.
Instead of defending free speech and academic freedom and push back against McCarthyism, Columbia University is doubling down on its crackdown on anti-Genocide activists by allowing NYPD to arrest dozens of peaceful protesters. The world is watching in disgust and abhorrence.

publishing operations unprecedented and unconstitutional. .... sets dangerous precedent for U.S. journalists, who routinely violate foreign secrecy laws to deliver information vital to the public's interest.
If President Biden and his Department of Justice are truly committed to press freedom at home and abroad they should immediately drop the extradition request and the underlying criminal indictment against Julian Assange.
Trump just pardoned convicted murderer and war criminal! Here is the opening statement of the military prosecutor in the court-martial of Michael Behenna who was convicted of killing Iraqi citizen Ali Mansur Mohamed:
Netanyahu on live TV declares deployment of military forces, including militarized border police, into Israeli towns with clear order to use as much force as possible to restore law and order. He says security forces shouldn’t worry about investigations or commissions of inquiry.
The culture of impunity for police killings coupled with heavily militarized law enforcement and permissive use-of-force policies lead to such senseless execution-style killing. If Daniel Shaver was shot in a war zone, his killing would probably amount to a war crime.
Trump’s new pick for CIA head Gina Hapsel was involved in Bush-era torture policy. She oversaw the torture of Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri and later took part in an order to destroy videotapes documenting their brutal interrogations at a secret prison in Thailand.
Pompeo will replace Tillerson at the State Department, and Gina Hapsel — the deputy director at the CIA — will succeed him at the CIA, becoming the first woman to run the spy agency, if confirmed.
It’s really imperative that the global opposition to Israel’s impending illegal annexation of parts of the West Bank doesn’t contribute to further normalization of Israel’s military occupation of Palestine and legitimization of its unlawful settlements. 1/
Don’t violate the Constitution. Period.
By requiring all contractors to certify that they’re not engaged in a boycott of Israel, Texas’ law unconstitutionally disqualifies people from working for the state based on protected expression that has nothing to do with their jobs.
While Israel’s fascist national security minister Ben Gvir instructed the police to criminalize raising the Palestinian flag, Brazilian fascists and Bolsonaro supporters raise an Israeli flag during the illegal storming of government buildings in Brasília.
This is a global embarrassment.
“It is not Russia that threatens the United States so much as Mississippi…[I]nternal injustice done to one’s brothers is far more dangerous than the aggression of strangers from abroad.” — W.E.B. DuBois (1947)

This video brings back teenage memories growing up in Haifa when flying the Palestinian flag was illegal. Protesters were criminally prosecuted and spent time in prison. Israel refers to it as the PLO flag (דגל אש״ף) and symbol of terrorism not of a nation or liberation movement.
Besides her obnoxious and orientalist comparisons to places where the U.S. was directly responsible for chaos and violence, she clearly never been to BLM or Indigenous protests where militarized and violent law enforcement response to peaceful protests were akin to war zones.
