@SchlFinance101 Just b/c NAEP reflects things in add to schooling does not mean the info is useless/statistical artifacts or just a prod of context. It tells us something imp about the relative perf of student pops. We shouldn't read too much into diffs, but neither should we overly discount.

@SchlFinance101 Agree that we should not read too much into single year jumps or attribute to specific interventions. But neither are gains determined by a mechanical relationship to past scores. What people and institutions do matters.

@cremieuxrecueil We can debate what's driving diffs in perf over time, but we still want to know how perf is changing. Seems like you're saying this may not be an "education" crisis because it's driven by changes outside of schools. Might be right, but still reflects a decline in core skill perf

@cremieuxrecueil And regardless of population level demo change, the scores would still represent performance of pop at that time. Trends are consistent with state-level exams too.
