The Fight Finder team has done an outstanding job with this, which remains unlike anything I have seen this side of Rafiel Torre. The Mozharov book is not closed, as we do have pending requests to other orgs. But for now, two more wins down for the 17-13 Askar Mozharov.

A Chinese org called Bullet Fly FC ran events starting in 2015, and Mozharov had a win declared on their 1st card over Xu Zihan. When the Fight Finder staff reviewed that event for reasons unrelated to the aforementioned investigation, we found out he was never on that card. 5/10

We spoke to an official from a local Ukrainian Sambo Federation, who oversees events there and has access to records. We received records for an event on Sept. 18, 2014, where Mozharov was reported to have repped the Ukraine team against Turkey in a country vs. country show. 8/10

In the last ~3 years, 51 individual emails have come in to Fight Finder regarding Mr. Mozharov. Only 9 have been about legitimate results/info.

If there's a disparity in Hamdy Abdelwahab's record, it's because his first two pro fights were under bare-knuckle MMA rules. Fight Finder checked with the commissions involved, and the fights were approved as pro MMA just with no gloves. He's 5-0.

All of the fights already set on Fight Finder for Almakhan were verified or clarified, save one piece of footage from a November 2017 tourney that we could not locate. As we went along, however, we found MORE footage. MORE wins. As in, a reverse Askar Mozharov.

First, record keeping in Kazakhstan is not the best. Second, the national martial art of the country, Zhekpe Zhek, is an MMA-adjacent style of combat that is technically never professional. One major differentiation between ZZ and MMA is grappling, or more specific, time limits.

I'm confused. You specifically mark Bryce Mitchell as 13-1 on the broadcast thanks to his TUF semifinal loss to Brad Katona, and then when he wins, you write he's still undefeated? TUF wins and losses are exhibitions, they don't count on a fighter's pro record. He's 14-0 now.

Suddenly, this 14-1 cat was about to jump into the 20-win range as we kept digging. Umar Nurmagomedov (and bettors) would have been shocked to find a record shift of that magnitude ahead of this weekend. All of these fights had one thing in common: Zhekpe Zhek billing.

For some important clarification: Sharaputdin Magomedov is 11-0 as a professional

fighter, according to Sherdog Fight Finder investigations. Five add'l bouts took place under modified rules at Nashe Delo events, and he only faced Jiayidaer Aili once.
The UFC has signed 28-year-old Sharaputdin Magomedov to a multifight deal, per his manager Ali Abdelaziz (
@AliAbdelaziz00
). Magomedov is 17-0 with 13 KOs and has experience in professional kickboxing. Expected to make his UFC debut in a May/June timeframe.

We at Sherdog believe that there are many types of rule sets that still are considered MMA. We take issue when orgs take things away. Shortening fights, removing weapons (bare-knuckle is ok) or mitigating grappling. This was the latter. You can't un-mix MMA.

In addition to being its own sport, Zhekpe Zhek is also a name that orgs use to title their events. They may run mixed tourneys, with one legit pro MMA fight as the "cherry on top" with a day of amateur competition and ZZ matches. It's a catch-all.

Remember Tweet 2: Zhekpe Zhek matches set time limits on grappling. 30 seconds or one minute, and it's an automatic standup. Doesn't matter if a fighter has full mount, has an armbar locked, etc. As we listened, we could hear someone on a microphone calling these standups.

As of this week, Bekzat Almakhan displayed a record of 14-1 on Sherdog Fight Finder. Over the course of this investigation, which involved several staff members in a concerted effort, Almakhan's record remains at 14-1*, with multiple intriguing caveats.
