I think the fact there’s so many different perspectives on San Francisco within the Monsterverse is so cool. From some perspectives, Godzilla was a savior and it was good that he was there to defeat the MUTOs. From others, Godzilla was no better and should be eradicated.

Godzilla is different from superheroes because his job is hardly ever full-time. He sleeps throughout the year, but he’ll have a few long days and nights where he’ll have to save the world from impending doom, lose/gain a friend or two, and then he goes back to sleep.

There’s something about the fact that these are the same individual I love. I’ll always love when Godzilla gets continuity spanning multiple movies. It’s why I love the Hesei series so much. We got to see him develop and, to an extent, we grew up with this version? It’s awesome.

Land Before Time did it fairly well, mainly because it wasn't the primary focus, but also because it was arbitrary. The characters knew there was no reason to be separate but their parents told them that's just how the world was.
