It is very biased - I mean how could it not be, from the guy that founded Raw Fury. But I think developers should be looking at consistency, when looking at publishers. Consistent good results. That’s Raw Fury. After a decade (soon) of operating. We know what we are doing.

For this year, our average Steam Rating is well above 90%. We have had five (5) insane launches and seven (7) successful launches in a row. We are one of the best indie publishers in the world. And it is still hard.

Well… some still do. @RawFury tries to keep it well under a month, going from Yes to a signed contract. I’d say this still holds true (with very rare exceptions). We also try to be quick with a No and never ghost… but we faltered there for a while but we are def getting better.

This is absolutely false, no publisher goes this fast nowadays (Pete is correct, but I'd wager he's still being optimistic. Count 3-9 months for most at this point. Expect to be suddenly dropped or ghosted somewhere between 3-6 months in. Keep. Pitching. Until. Signatures.)

Done with Gamescom. Fantastic to see everyone. Nothing but love, hugs, smiles and amazing conversations. Excellent meetings. But now - as with every time - I am struck with melancholy over missed meetings or friends that I missed. All in all it was amazing.

A 100% this. Please give the publishers love too, that bring amazing games forward on a regular basis (I am obviously biased) BUT please remember that rarely we are the developers and creators. Those should get the love. We at @RawFury try to make sure that is in the forefront
As a lot of indie games are being debuted today by publishers, please keep in mind is that the publisher is NOT the developer of the game you're excited about. I hate seeing "omg (publisher) is amazing" and not mentioning the devs. Please follow and share the creators as well!

Curious about the “hit rate” of publishers overall (of all games published, how many are profitable). Have some numbers but they are unconfirmed. This is probably one of the biggest secrets in the industry. Ours is close to 80%.

Cassette Beasts, for us, was an outlier. A genre we hadn’t touched on before. An audience we had to learn. But with a brilliant team and loads of dedication, it is the highest-rated game we have released on Steam and the fastest-selling Raw Fury game on Nintendo Switch! (11/17)

And then there's Friends Vs Friends. A purely multiplayer title, which was completely new to us. But we knew the developers well and what they were capable of. They are amazing and talented people who also made The Longest Road on Earth (an absolute gem of a game). (12/17)

@AeornFlippout @tha_rami Just coming at this from the publishing side. Perhaps it was a white lie but were the two games slotted for a similar future release window? Where they in a same or similar genre? Because differences in these - for example - can easily lead to those two different answers.

Steam is brutal. All platforms now are brutal. Don’t loom at the “overnight” hyped successes. Look at the overall data and make very sober decisions. Still go for it - just be aware of what you are going for.

@Alexformosoc Look at games like The Signifier, Call of the Sea or American Arcadia from our catalog. All of the amazing. Transforming. All of them would have sold millions 10 years ago. And this is a shame. We cannot lose this as an industry. As an artform.

We try our best to answer everyone. We try to go from a Yes to a signed contract in less than a month and that is usually the case. We have a very high “hit” rate with games becoming profitable. We only profit once the developers do as well.

Point is - it can all be done. Depends on focus and willingness. Which determines strategy and what is considered most important. Ghosting developers should always be treated as a failure on the publisher’s part. So should taking multiple months to close a contract once a Yes
