@jessesingal Did you read this?
Jesse, look again at this. In 2017 the Department of Homeland security announced that all communications infrastructure was under its jurisdiction. This followed the creation of the Global Engagement Center, an organization formed out of the CSCC (Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications). The GEC helped to launch a "whole of society" effort to combat "disinformation." Partnering with allies around the world the GEC aimed to shield Americans from narratives and facts that were inconvenient to the US State. Now, Jesse is claiming that the Active Social Engineering Defense program was aimed at combatting social engineering and was not itself a social engineering program. That is half true. It was aimed at combatting "social engineering" but this defensive stance involved an offensive approach. The "defensive measures" were dual use and almost always involved both evaluating content and suppressing it. Fact-checking is a good example. During this time Seymour Hersh's article on the Nordstream Pipeline was Factchecked by Faktisk, a Norwegian State anti-disinformation agency. Faktisk determined Hersh's reporting counted as disinformation. If one were to share this story on Facebook your account was marked as a site of disinformation and was suppressed. After participating in the Active Social Engineering Defense (ASED) program, Reuters expanded its fact-checking initiatives through partnerships with state-funded or state-run fact checking organizations. Reuters partnered with Facebook, TikTok, and Whatsapp and the IFCN Vaccine Grant program. Reuters launched a project to combat COVID-19 vaccine misinformation in Spanish-speaking communities. In reality Musk is correct in his assessment of the Active Social Engineering Defense program. It was itself a social engineering project, despite how it characterized itself.

@jimmy_dore @d__e_p Youโre right. Itโs awesome to expose and dismantle these things. But we need to be prepared for the very likely possibility that Trump & co will be setting up new organisations for imperialism that might be worse

And letโs not forget how much this avoidable, unwinnable war harmed Europeans. Due to the energy crisis it caused. Europe is ruled by incompetent, dangerous nutters
Europe deserves to be left reeling after having lost its senses in a paroxysm of self-harming warmongering that left the EU cornered into supporting a never-ending, unwinnable war that condemns Ukrainians to constant carnage. Time to end this war. Now.

@_oatish @AleAgoPiaggio @TheOmniLiberal They did not want to be Russian. They wanted to not be ruled by a Russophobic NATO puppet regime following the 2014 coup. They wanted autonomy. That regime + its puppetmasters would not allow this.
