Very happy to be backing the Enigma Project at Stanford. I believe we need to understand the brain asap in order to design safe general intelligence.

Launching today! Easily create long-term incentives for Ethereum public goods creators. Point ETH payment streams at payment splitter contracts to incentivize developers en masse. The smart contracts have been audited by @sigp_io .

These bottlenecks are broken into projects with identified leads that need funding and/or talent. I started the Amaranth Foundation a couple of years ago to fund ambitious longevity research. Alongside some of the brightest young minds in the field, we’ve given out dozens of.

I’m going to help kickstart things by pointing a 3600 ETH payment stream at an eth2 contributors grant that pays out over 3 years. This grant covers client teams and researchers and was crafted with input from knowledgable community members.

Releasing a standard for open grants on Ethereum. With this standard, a list of grantees can be batched into a single donation address. These grants are auditable and composable. Complex distributions of grants can be reduced to a single address.

It would be great to see more incentive programs created to reward people doing valuable open source work. Kindly help fund the long-term development of the platform that has enabled so much for the blockchain ecosystem, especially if you’re a whale 🐳.

Explicit long-term incentives have been a missing feature in the Ethereum ecosystem partially due to regulatory risk and devs being very busy. ETH options and time-locked contracts fall under US swap regulations, but cancellable ETH payment streams have no such legal obstacles.

Well done @jamesfickel & the Amaranth Foundation team. A must read for anyone interested in the future of human health. By placing early bets on outstanding people & projects, Amaranth is filling the funding gap to facilitate moonshot approaches to longevity 👏🙏.

@KarlPfleger We have no experience dealing with agents that are more capable than us in every dimension. Hopefully, understanding the brain’s architecture will allow us to bound agent capabilities to something we’re relatively familiar with. I don’t think building AGI will ever be risk free.

@pdhsu @MartinBJensen @cinjoncin built an audited tokenization mechanism on ethereum for papers/citations. It took a little bit of time getting people familiar with web3, but I think it went well!

@getjonwithit Wouldn’t the simulation likely be using dynamic loading or just-in-time rendering that obeys any proof of inefficiency that you generate? It could be incredibly efficient with algorithms generated by an ASI. How do we know the set of computation isn’t saturated with simulations?.

@MarkBeylin @Nogoodtwts @DennisonBertram I don’t think it’s as much about its state being “indescribable” as it is about the state being unknown to us and impossible to know without hitting it

@PhABCD @avsa I think Stuart Armstrong effectively solved the paradox by showing that it’d only take a blink of cosmological time for an advanced civilization to colonize everything in its surroundings with nanobots. We’re most likely alone

@PhABCD @avsa It implies that it is absolutely not an objective (even if it's really cheap) or that they aren't there. Agreed that it's more likely/interesting to them that they spend vast majority of resources focusing inwards. Need FTL communication to make it worth trying to talk to others.
