The results are in and 🥁…
We finished in a frankly quite unbelievable THIRD PLACE! Thanks to everyone who voted for us and
@gloucesterrugby
for your support. It is ridiculous that we can call ourselves a Rugby Podcast let alone one that has finished third in a worldwide vote.
It's ⏰!
With hundreds of entries from around the 🌎 & tens of thousands of votes, the results are in 🥳
The pods involved in the 2nd SPAs included small independents right through to the biggest podcasts in the world, all of them 🔥!
The sports podcast community has spoken...
We would like to see George Skivington sit down with all the
@gloucesterrugby
supporters who made the effort to travel to Northampton today and explain why it was worthwhile wasting their time and money.
#SkivingtonOut
If one guy should milk this for all it’s worth it is
@jfordrob
. An absolutely brilliant performance and we couldn’t be happier for him.
#glawsfamily
#Jamal4England
😂 "It was all me. Well done me, I'd like to thank me and everyone watching me."
A delighted Jamal Ford-Robinson reacts to winning his first Player of the Match award for
@gloucesterrugby
🍒
A quick word for
@warr_gus
this evening. Possibly one of the most annoying scrum half’s seen at Kingsholm in a while. Great performance, clever try and hopefully he knows the boos as he was leaving the field were very much pantomime. Rugby needs irritating 9s!
#glawsfamily
The
#glawsfamily
are incredible. The heart of a club at the heart of the city. When you play with passion and determination as
@edslater
has, you will always be taken to our hearts and we will do everything we can to support him.
For the love of Rugby, we are so so happy
@SaintsRugby
won this evening. Brilliant performance and exactly where Gloucester need to be aiming for. Very specifically, the style of Rugby.
Sometimes you don’t get what you deserve. Sometimes you find heroes and legends even in defeat. Sat in tears watching that. We won’t single out players at this point because every single one of them should hold their heads up high and be proud of their performance today.
Massive credit to
@Mercer8Zach
for the post match interview to. Giving Ben Earl the deserved credit for his incredible form and performances. Absolutely the owner of the England ‘8’ shirt…but surely there is room for Zach in the England squad too?!?
To all the
@Chiefs
fans newly acquainted to
@gloucesterrugby
, we are very happy to help you if you have any questions. But to answer some easy ones: We have a really easy song - it’s literally one elongated word. We dislike all other English rugby clubs, especially Bath.
Get the chuff in!!!! Another one ground out. Imagine how good it will be when we start performing. Also…
VRR with one of the great 80 minute prop performances for
@gloucesterrugby
in recent memory.
#LIRvGLO
We may have underestimated the number of
@gloucesterrugby
supporters here this evening. Incredible following! Ingratiating themselves with the locals too…
#glawsfamily
#EDIvGLO
Obviously we beat a less than full strength Saracens side today but the consensus among the Jam team is that we are building something very exciting
@gloucesterrugby
. 5th from 11th is a great turnaround and a run at top four next season should be a minimum target.
#glawsfamily
With immense sorrow I share that Jack passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday night. We are heartbroken.
We have all been staggered and humbled by the outpouring of support and love
Good night little bro - we will carry you always ❤️
@JackGhostAdams
Just seen the comments sent to
@LewisLudlow94
by a so called ‘fan’. Personal abuse is not acceptable and anything the club can do to take further steps against the person concerned would be fully backed by us.
#glawsfamily
. Let’s finish on a high in two weeks away to Bristol.
Afternoon
@gloucesterrugby
, might be worth looking at the forums, the social media and listening out to our podcast. There is absolutely no excuse for today.
Even if we win the
#ChallengeCupFinal
, George Skivington must be removed from his position.
#SkivingtonOut
#NORvGLO
Gutted for
@JakePolledri
. One of our favourite players from the past few years and someone who should have been a superstar of the game. But we will always have those brilliant memories of “Jake Polledri Running Over People”. All the best Jake!
#glawsfamily
Following
@JakePolledri
announcing his retirement from rugby today, let’s look back at some of his best moments in Cherry & White. 🍒
Wishing you and your family all the best, Jake. You’ll always be welcome at Kingsholm. 👊
@ChampionsCup
Here’s an alternative idea: Six group of four teams who play each other home and away; group winners and two best runners up qualify for the Quarter finals…you know, like how it used to be!
We haven’t done this for a long time. Phase play, willing runners, players on shoulders, looking for the offload. It’s hard to pull off and there will be mistakes but this, this is what every rugby fan wants to see. Bloody gorgeous.
#glawsfamily
#BRIvGLO
Is that an early try of the season contender? 😯
Freddie Thomas finishes off a sensational
@gloucesterrugby
move with the third try in the opening 18 minutes 🔥

Lots of ‘professionally offended’ Leinster fans about today. Why not compare the playing budget, the support of the IRFU, player pool available and competitiveness of the league you play in before spouting nonsense! Hoping the
@gloucesterrugby
lads can prove the doubters wrong.
Question asked during commentary during the
#UBBvSAR
game. What exactly was it that allowed Saracens to dominate European Rugby in the past? Oh yeah, we remember…
Sport is cruel and we know it’s very ‘English’ to celebrate a defeat but by rights
@gloucesterrugby
should have been nowhere near La Rochelle today. But that is why we love rugby. It’s just a shame that we couldn’t complete the fairytale.
#ConfitureDemain
#glawsfamily
#LARvGLO
Shall we all agree to never have a first 40 like that again this season
@gloucesterrugby
? That second half though was incredible! How good a signing have we got in Albert too? Remarkable performance.
#glawsfamily
#GLOvWAS
Two things about last night.
1: It genuinely was great to see the team playing the rugby that we’ve all wanted to see. The coaches deserve credit for the changes made and the result.
2: The defence is an absolute horror show but Bristol play expansively - need to fix though.
Outgunned in the end by a more experienced side. Lack of ball in the second half, particularly at the lineout really told. But the lads did the shirt, the club and the fans proud. Lots of positives for the future!
#GLOvWOR
#glawsfamily
Massive thanks to
@LewisLudlow94
for taking the time to join us yesterday evening for a special podcast recording. It will be available to listen to on Thursday lunchtime.

Shouldn’t celebrate a loss, but that is a significant result for all at the club. In a period where we are seeing Seven figure losses across the game, to actually improve the financial results year on year is pretty damn good.
🍒 BREAKING: Gloucester published their financial accounts today.
They made a loss of £393,079 in 2023 which was an improvement on the £628,917 loss in the previous year.
Turnover has increased from £17.0m to £18.2m. This is an increase of 6.6%.
We have been about as fair and understanding as you can be when you look at the results over the past year, but today marks a real low for the club. It has to be
#SkivingtonOut
as soon as possible. The fans have been incredibly patient but the
#glawsfamily
have had enough.
Maximum ticket price should be £30 for this one (Gold Malvern Tyres Stand). Make it cheap as possible for kids to attend and pack the place out. Come on
@gloucesterrugby
you know it makes sense!
#glawsfamily
#HolmAdvantage
Right then. First of all, safe travels to all the
#glawsfamily
on their way down to
#Tottenholm
today. Good luck to the lads
@gloucesterrugby
, the chance to win silverware is something that doesn’t come around very often, so grab the opportunity with both hands! C’MON GLAWS!!!
For clarification we don’t pretend to speak for the whole fanbase, but we do think we echo a lot of the general feeling. Fundamentally we want the club to succeed and we are so disappointed at the current predicament. We should expect better and not accept mediocrity.
Couple of thoughts from today: Zach Mercer is going to be so so good for us. The competition at Centre is probably the best we have had in years, while we seem to have unearthed even more talented academy prospects than we even knew about. Exciting times!
#glawsfamily
@edslater
Thank you for your performances, leadership and how you represented
@gloucesterrugby
. We are with you and will do all we can to keep raising awareness and support you in this fight.
Massive shoutout to the
#BenettonRugby
supporters today. It was great to see you travel in good numbers and we hope you enjoyed the match day experience at Kingsholm. Swap some Prosecco for Cider and have yourselves a great evening and rest of the weekend.
@BenettonRugby
👏👏👏
On nights like this performance is secondary. A win is a win! (Although if we can make a little easier for ourselves it would help fans blood pressure and heart rates a lot!)

There are absolutely no words that we can find to express how upset we are reading this news. All of our best wishes will obviously go to Ed, his family, friends and his teammates.

Club Statement | Ed Slater
Gloucester Rugby is deeply pained to announce that Ed Slater has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Everyone at Gloucester Rugby is entirely committed to supporting Ed and his family in every way we can.
Full statement below.
…and
@gloucesterrugby
were so so so close to knocking out
@staderochelais
! Today makes you appreciate the levels the lads had to go to even get close. Genuinely believe that there is a squad there that can and will do better next season. The only limitation will be their belief.
Evening all. We have removed the tweet referencing Lewis Ludlow’s initial response, as fundamentally it isn’t going to help anyone. He has apologised and also offered to come on the pod, which hopefully we can sort. We want the best for the club, some of you may disagree with us
Re-e-wind…when the crowd say you systematically cheated the salary cap over a number of years, got relegated and have a fly half who, although incredibly talented, apparently can’t tackle properly…Selecta. We admit it doesn’t scan but it’s accurate.

@CraigDavid
𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗝𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗬 😢
Club legend,
@J0nnyMay
, will leave the Cherry & Whites at the end of the current season.
Supporters will get the chance to say goodbye in his final Kingsholm fixture on Saturday.

No words! No words! In tears at the Baseball! In tears in Corfu! In tears at Glastonbury! CHAMPIONS!!!!!
We are the GLAWSTER Girls! Thank you
@Glos_PuryWRFC
for making dreams come true!

#GLOvEXE
Just a little under 6,000 at
#Kingsholm
last night but sounded like double that. Great atmosphere from the ‘hardcore’ support.
#glawsfamily
. Need to work out ways to increase numbers even with a late kickoff on an Easter Saturday (thanks for that
@ChallengeCup_
!)
We will be honest, this second half has been absolutely shocking at times. Missing two kicks to the corner is simply not acceptable at this level.
#EXEvGLO
Really frustrating afternoon.
#glawsfamily
That 90-0 was really worth it wasn’t it? 😉😩😭 Ah well, let’s look forward to trips to Parma and Tbilisi again. (Dark humour is the only thing getting us through this at the moment)
#GLOvSHA
Well that is a game that we should have won. Disappointing second half. Lack of control and discipline cost us in the end. Well done to
@BristolBears
on a fantastic performance. Enjoy the win

Remember we have to trust the process…
#glawsfamily
.
Absolutely dreadful. Horrendous. Awful. We have been calling this for weeks and weeks. It is the game plan. It needs to change and if it doesn’t it won’t be long until something else will have to.
#NEWvGLO
The crowd have played a big part today. Loud and partisan as ever but a bit more of an edge than in recent weeks. Good to see and hear!
#GLOvSAL
#glawsfamily
We have given him a bit of stick on style of play, but we hope that he, you, the players and the club know that is genuinely from a supportive place. Gutted for Skivs and the players tonight. On to Bath and putting a few wrongs right to end this season on a high.
#glawsfamily
🗣️ “It’s absolutely gutting…”
Head Coach George Skivington didn’t hide his disappointment but acknowledged the heroic effort of his team.
🟡🍒 //
#LARvGLO
It’s difficult to care about the
#NORvGLO
game, mainly because the coaches clearly don’t either. We do understand the ‘logic’ in targeting the Cup Final but this still leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. Feel really sorry for the
#glawsfamily
who bothered to attend today.
Nine league defeats in a row. NINE! Our worst ever run in league rugby. The players are clearly trying but that is the minimum expectation we have as fans. The game plan is awful (as it has been for most of the time the coaches have been in place). Enough is enough.
#glawsfamily
Already hundreds of people at
#Kingsholm
to watch
@gloucesterrugby
open training session today. Incredible support from a truly rugby mad city (plus what else are you going to do on a Saturday afternoon?)
#glawsfamily
Simply not good enough. Serious questions need to be asked. No improvements for a long time now. Not sure if the obvious answers that normally get trotted out will solve anything either.
#GLOvBAT
#glawsfamily
Great news the
#CastresFlag
has been returned and wonderful to see that despite the result the intrepid
@CastresRugby
supporters had a good time overall. Exactly what sport and rugby in particular should be about.
#glawsfamily
With the wonderful news that the Castres flag has been found and is being returned, the Castres fans shared this video with me and have allowed me to share it.
@gloucesterrugby
Still trying to get our heads around the news today. The rugby community has already shown the solidarity, warmth and love for a bloke who is universally liked and respected. The original charity target of £20,000 smashed in a matter of hours.

#EdSlater
Dave Sims was THE Captain of
@gloucesterrugby
as the club transitioned from Amateur to Professionalism. He, for most of a certain generation, epitomised what it means to play for Glaws. Uncompromising, hard-edged but passionate and loyal. RIP.
#glawsfamily
Gloucester Rugby is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Dave Sims.
Sims captained the Cherry & Whites admirably between the amateur and professional era.
Our thoughts are with Dave’s family and friends at this sad time.
