Ghana is like that person who dresses up nicely, talks calm and cool at an event but when they go home, their house is a mess, they treat their roommates like garbage and they're actually in debt because they're trying to keep up with the Joneses
For a tropical country, we're kind of insane for building our houses the way we do.
Block houses that trap in heat which force us to use Air conditions?
What a scam....
Tech people in Ghana been trying to meet people in high places to pitch projects and can’t get in. White guy comes to GH and gets connections and meets with the Vice President. This country is beans….

The problem here is all these losses by COCOBOD
You know what's funny? I posted this story last weekend. Published it and retweeted it myself.
No one picked it up.
Bella Naija posts the same story and now y'all want to complain that local "GH" bloggers don't try.
This is why I'm frustrated....
She has an interesting history. Dad was Ghanaian. She quit track and field because she was getting bullied in school. Joined the wrestling team. Almost quit when her dad died in a car accident on the way to watch one of her matches.
Now Olympic Gold medalist. What a story
Great interview between
@karaswisher
and
@piersmorgan
. I wish we had more civil discourse and conversations with people who don't necessarily agree with
Presenting: A Tournament for the "Worst Company/Service Provider In Ghana". A tournament where you get to vote on the company/service provider that you think provides the worst service you've ever experienced in Ghana
This is an intriguing story. First of, it’s interesting how “quiet” this rollout of the Digital Transport Fee was. DVLA didn’t make any announcements. Neither did ride sharing services until Uber sent out an email announcement to customers.
As I was covering the protests, an old man approached and said he's happy about the protests and that the youth have done well. He said he was frustrated with both NPP and NDC and loved how this protest was not partisan.
"The youth are the future", he said

Current watching this Abstract show on Netflix. If you’re interested in UX or Product Design, I recommend the episode with Ian Spalter, the guy who redesign Instagram and also designed the Nike Fuelband. A device that I miss so much….
@KEA_HGA
I hear that there's an algorithm behind this. Even happens on the Uber app. It happens with the amount of times you open the app, how often you use it etc
I remember a long time, around 2014. We proposed a mobile app for the DVLA and Ghana Police where they could scan the license plate of a car and get information about the vehicle and the owner. Basically an early version of the US police
Got a chance to check out the new Yetra gaming hub at the Accra mall. I am very impressed. I’m glad someone put in the investment to do something like this and I hope it pays out well in the end

Soft launch:
Over the last couple of years, I've put together lists of events for "December in Ghana". Decided to add in "Fun Stuff To Do" and places to eat out as well.
Still updating everyday but you can check it out now

The Bole Mosque collapsing is so sad. Like, that’s a great tourism artifact but now it’s gone because we don’t invest in maintenance
Sigh.
Everything is too “Accra” based. The North deserves better
Today, I celebrate something I started 6 years ago. I started a Ghana tech news website because I felt that there wasn't enough material about tech news in Ghana.
6 years later and I'm still working on it
So there was an earthquake in Mexico City which caused “Earthquake lights”. Someone said it’s caused by minerals in the ground releasing a electric charge which shoots to the sky and can be seen as a flash of light.
Cool and scary. But more scary
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

5 years. We’ve never won an award. No best blogger, no best tech website, no best site.
But we still produce the best tech content in Ghana. Always up to date, on multiple channels.
I give props to the tech community that recognize the work we do and put us in the room.
I've been making an argument that the Oxford street area in Osu should be a car free zone. People look at me like I'm crazy. But it's a good idea especially for tourists and street vendors
In case you missed it: Kigali constantly challenging other African cities. The “car free zone” has been a topic of conversation for the last few years. It’s now starting to take shape.

The National Identification Authority is coming out to say it can't verify that the biometric data being collected for the SIM registration will meet their standards....
Put this entire country in rice please....
What a circus
Announcing the "Worst Bank In Ghana" tournament. Last time you guys voted on "Worst service" and gave the crown to Ghana Police. Now you can vote for "Worst bank". It's a tournament of 16 banks (even though there are 23 banks in Ghana).

The problem with Ghana (and Africa largely) is always going to be data. Data is always scarce. Trying to get numbers and stats on sectors and issues is always a problem
All ECOWAS members are to adhere to the treaty that they signed. When I checked, I see two instances of "peace and stability" and "recognition of human rights". Both are currently being violated in Nigeria.
What's your current response chairman
@NAkufoAddo
My scoop is limited but I will be collecting all available resources about the
#OccupyJulorbiHouse
Created a Notion page for contacts for lawyers to contact in case of arrest and contact to help fund the campaign
I sit in my corner and try to write good articles about tech and data in Ghana. I don't get paid. I generate no income. I bootstrap.
But hey, if it makes some impact, I'll all for it. Just wish it was in an environment that felt more "appreciative" 🤷🏽♂️

I just remembered the old days with online Yahoo chat rooms. When someone came online, the open door sound effect would come on.
People would ask a/s/l (age/sex/location)
You young kids would never understand
Research on people is hard. So here's what's going to happen:
I'm going to put out this
@deborahvanessa7
article either today or tomorrow. Could have been a better profile if I had deeper information but I like to see it as a prelude.
For 6 years, I've been running
@technovagh
all bootstrapped. For the past 3 years or so, I've been doing 80-90% of the content, social media management, and more.
Just wanted to announce that in the coming months, Tech Nova will cease to exist....
Because we're rebranding!
The Ghanaian delegation would like to express our concerns with the actions happening in the United States as well. After going through our own peaceful elections, we hope the US can also go through the same peaceful transition
The people of Malawi wish to express their concern with the increasingly volatile situation in the United States. We strongly condemn any acts of post election violence and we call upon the US authorities to put in place all measures to ensure democratic process prevails.
So me and
@omithehomie
decided to leave Ghana because were tired and we took a trip to Dubai.
I wrote about the whole process of covid tests, booking a ticket and flying in and out.
Year of Return blah blah. Everything is in Accra. Meanwhile, there's other places in Ghana to explore.
I'm your new favorite travel blogger now. New post later tomorrow
Uber Copter is now available for all riders, enabling people to seamlessly travel from Manhattan to JFK 🚁
The pilot is designed to generate learnings for a future all-electric Uber Air ride-sharing network.
Read this book after I drove almost 3 hours to Keta all by myself. Helped me understand personal relationships more including friendships and “traumas” that we all go through.
This and “Courage To Be Disliked” helped me with a lot of clarity
I was wondering why an article I wrote an RLG a coupe of years ago suddenly spiked in traffic. Found the reason 😅
I just need more resources and a team to dig up more information on more stories like this
So no Ghanaian business journalist or commentator will write a book or longform article on the RLG story? How they became the toast of corporate Ghana & why they're so quiet these days? What, I should do it? But I never covered them before? Where are those who did?
Never forget:
Ghana’s Minister of Health lied about COVID vaccines and got caught in a life
Then he took 2 weeks off for leave and the came back to his job with no repercussions

Random: I don't do a lot of stuff for recognition but honestly, I've been writing about tech in GH for a while and not getting a bit of acknowledgement kind of rubs me the wrong way....
