This was me when I finished my morning list on my GP placement, seeing my own patients in my own room! Huge respect to GPS who do these appointments in ten minutes, this was me with 30 minute appointments and still all my documentation to do 😂

If there is no intent on the part of PAs to deceive, why would this be degrading?

During my final year of medical school, my loan was sliced in half. I got myself into debt to pay my bills, despite working at nightclubs until 4-6am every weekend (alongside 35 hours a week placement). I lost my wellbeing and I lost a lot of money. Don’t call me greedy.

Has anyone actually asked Anaesthetists if they’re willing to supervise THREE cases at a time? One qualified doctor, three patients under anaesthesia, when it comes to it, which patient gets the attention they deserve? None. Harmful for patients, and government thinks it’s great.
As government passed registration of PAs/AAs by the GMC today one particular clip really intrigued me:

Doing a bit of late night reading and found out that my medical school does not accept "financial reasons" as a reason for placement location requests. Just requested to have my placements in one location so I can seek employment and reduced travel costs, this is quite annoying.

As Student Finance England does not provide the usual loan available to students for my final year, I am left to depend on the NHS Bursary. The amount I receive next year will be 48% of what I have been receiving each year so far.

I often feel guilty that I am not completing more hours of work to help with my finances, but I have to remember hours I spend working are hours I am stealing from my studies and hours I need for my mental health.

I’m absolutely loving working as a bank CSW, I would recommend it to every medical student. It’s an incredible experience and lovely to spend more time with patients and the super friendly teams on the wards!

My in-person placement has kept me sane throughout this academic year. I do not understand how my peers have coped remaining at home, trapped in front of computer screens. Online teaching is not always to the same standard and far from the £9,250 course students were promised.
Listening to Universities Minister failing to explain why students can’t return to in-person teaching whilst schools / colleges / non-essential retail etc all open and in person & indoors activities. Her only explanation seems to be that students will form new households 🤷♀️

During my final year at uni, I worked as a club photographer to make ends meet. I worked late nights and worked hard. I deserved the money I earned and I deserve to earn at least that now. As a doctor I earn less.
I used to work as a club girl, literally getting paid to drink and party. I had no qualifications.
I got paid more than I get paid as a doctor. 😊

There are already far too many barriers to healthcare for a large amount of the population. Further financial barriers is a leap in the wrong direction and will exacerbate the current devastating socioeconomic disparity in health. The tories do not care about your health.
