Congrats to seniors Alex Copeland, Trey Phills, Blake Reynolds and Thomas Ryan for their careers at Yale. Two Ivy League championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a 79-41 record are nothing to sneeze at.
Miye Oni becomes the first Ivy player selected in the NBA Draft since Penn's Jerome Allen was taken 49th by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995. Huge night for Ivy hoops and a remarkable feat for a player who at one point appeared Division III bound.
The Ivy League has climbed to 12th in KenPom's conference standings, now ahead of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Ivy finished 21st last year (out of 32 conferences) and has never finished a season with a rating as high as its current one.
That was a commanding win for Dartmouth over Harvard. Great to see Leede Arena rocking. Some signature stats for the Big Green: 21 assists on 43 field goals and 11-for-21 from three-point range. Dartmouth's 3P% is best in the league by a good margin, and its assist rate second.
Congratulations to all graduating Ivy hoopsters. Thanks for being some of the very best of what college basketball should be all about: dedicated students prepared to better society who happen to excel at basketball too.
Excellence in college athletics should be measured not by championships but by lives championed and impact imparted. Thanks to Fran Dunphy and Phil Martelli for embodying that excellence for generations and to all those bearing witness to the impact those men had on them.
AJ Brodeur notches the first triple-double in program history on the same night he becomes the program's all-time leading scorer and shotblocker. What a Palestra finale for Brodeur.

gets in after getting snubbed last year, drawing a No. 12 seed and a play-in spot for the right to play No. 5 Baylor.
The Ivy League's NCAA Tournament representative has won at least one tourney game in six of the league's last 13 appearances. Nothing fluky about
@YaleMBasketball
's win over KenPom No. 4 Auburn.
Ivy League men's basketball now has six wins against teams ranked in KenPom's top 100 at the time of their matchups this season. The league notched just one win last season over a team that finished in KenPom's top 100 (Princeton over USC).
If the NCAA Selection Committee wants one of the best defenses in the nation and a team that has proven it can win anywhere in its postseason tournament, it'll find room for Penn.
We deserve a shot.
- RPI of 52 entering Sunday
- Won the regular season championship in the
@IvyLeague
, rated 11th-best RPI
- Zero losses to any team outside of the nation's top-90
- 11 true road wins, third-most of any team in the country
- Rank top-10 nationally in defense
Nicely drawn play out of the timeout, but Barry’s 3-pointer is blocked and
#DartMBK
loses a tough one at Davidson’s Belk Arena, 79-76. Unbelievable effort, just short in the end.
Miye Oni became the first Ivy player selected in the NBA Draft in 24 years and is headed for the Utah Jazz, a huge feat for Ivy hoops and the latest achievement in what has been a remarkable basketball journey for Oni:
EARLY IMPRESSIONS.
🌿🏀 heads into the 2019-20 campaign ranked the 10th-best (out of 32) Division I men's basketball conference in the country. The season tips off Tuesday, Nov. 5.
It's ridiculous that the No. 24 team in the nation gets a No. 11 seed, but that's consistent with past egregious oversights by the Selection Committee.
The longest-standing scoring record of any Division I program in the country has been broken. AJ Brodeur passes Ernie Beck '53 atop Penn's all-time scoring list with 1,829 points with Beck in attendance.
In the first season after Pete Carril's death, Princeton pulls off a NCAA Tournament upset in the same city in which Carril was an assistant NBA coach for a decade. A storybook response for a team that has mustered answers in tough spots all season long.
A huge win for
@DartmouthMBB
at Georgetown. One of Taurus Samuels's best games with the Big Green, and it's great to see Brendan Barry having a big impact after a two-year layoff.
Today's win over No. 20 Oklahoma adds to the many moments Princeton has given supporters reason to be thankful for in recent years. Madison St. Rose has been one of the nation's most dynamic scorers this season, and the sky's the limit for her and this team.
Harvard pulls out the most impressive win for any Ivy so far this season, topping St. Mary's on the road without Chris Lewis. Getting 22 combined points from Noah Kirkwood and Robert Baker off the bench helped put the Crimson over the top.
Congrats to Princeton for clinching the Ivy League championship tonight and a No. 1 seed in the Ivy League Tournament. The Tigers have now won a remarkable six Ivy titles in 11 seasons under
@CoachBanghart
.
An absolutely dominant performance by Princeton tonight at Missouri. Ivy Tigers 68, SEC Tigers 33. Princeton led by 42 with 3:08 to go. Carlie Littlefield paced Princeton with 22 points, but really, Princeton's stifling defense won the night.
Penn has beaten Miami and Villanova on successive Tuesdays and has kept its arrow pointing up throughout this season despite losing its leading scorer from a season ago, Ryan Betley, and the very promising Jelani Williams to season-ending injuries. Penn's got a system that works.
Kaitlyn Chen turned in one of the greatest performances in Ivy League Tournament history: 30 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field, plus three assists and three rebounds. Princeton had simply too much offensive talent and defensive focus for any Ivy to handle this season.
Ivy wins so far against KenPom top-100 teams:
Penn over No. 20 Villanova
Yale over No. 44 Miami
Penn over No. 44 Miami
Harvard over No. 54 Saint Mary's
That's already three more wins against KenPom top-100 nonconference competition than all of last season.
Congrats to Penn for attracting enough attention away from UMBC to make this historic No. 16-over-No. 1 upset possible. In retrospect, obviously a seminal trailblazing moment courtesy of Penn.
FINAL: Dartmouth 68, Buffalo 63. The Big Green end Buffalo's 26-game home win streak a season after the Bulls beat Dartmouth by 39 on the same floor. It's Dartmouth's first season-opening win on the road in 32 years. Great stuff from the Big Green tonight.
Today's win over Harvard marks the 40th straight Ivy win for
@PrincetonWBB
, including its two wins in the 2019 conference tournament. The Tigers haven't lost a league contest in 1,123 days.
Good postseason stuff from the Ivy League tonight. Harvard wins at Georgetown without Christian Juzang and Brown defeats UAB without Desmond Cambridge, who announced yesterday that will transfer.
The Ivy League has enjoyed a lot of success out west this season. Brown over SDSU, Princeton over Arizona St., Penn over New Mexico, Harvard over St. Mary's ... and out east too: Yale over Cal in Shanghai.
FINAL:
@PennMBB
holds off
@BrownBasketball
, 77-73, at the Palestra, as first-year guard George Smith explodes for a career-high 23 points in 37 minutes.

Bryce Aiken is averaging 28.5 points in the past six games on 51-for-99 (51.5 percent) shooting from the field, He's been KenPom's game MVP in four of those contests, sinking game-tying or game-winning shots to close out regulation or overtime in three of them.
An excellent team win today as we upset No. 14 California, 85-79!! Our first win over a ranked opponent since 1998 when we upset No. 1 Stanford in the NCAA tournament!

Included is an intriguing recounting of Myles Stephens colliding with Pete Carril, but even more interesting is that Stephens is doing his 75-page senior thesis on the socioeconomic impact of Negro League Baseball on integration in America:
Good luck to Bernadette Laukaitis as she moves on to take over as head coach at Holy Family. Her not being on Penn's sideline this season will be strange:
The great thing about Matt Morgan's run at Cornell was we knew it was comprised of special days that we could appreciate before we actually left them. Congrats on graduating,

Our final newest alumnus is Matt Morgan!

leaves campus as a

history behind only Bill Bradley.

James Jones is staying at Yale after his St. John's interview, and the Ivy League is a stronger, more competitive and more colorful league with Jones's high-level coaching acumen, formidable recruiting and good humor in it:
One of the Ivy League’s sharpest shooters in recent years is headed for Belmont after ranking second in the Ivy in three-pointers made for Princeton this past season.
Setting aside the tough overtime loss to Memphis,
@PennWBB
got a legendary performance out of Kayla Padilla in her neck of the woods at Gersten Pavilion: 36 points on 13-for-26 shooting, five assists and just three turnovers in 45 minutes of play.
We caught up with
@PrincetonWBB
coach Carla Berube, who discussed how the Tigers got through the 2020-21 season that wasn't, the new Ivy schedule format and much more:
RIP Bill Walton, a source of great light and warmth in the world of sport and beyond. Walton's son Nate was an Ivy champion at Princeton. Condolences to all those who knew or found comfort through him, and may his memory be eternal.
It was 95 years ago today that the Palestra hosted its first basketball game, a 26-15 win for
@PennMBB
over
@YaleMBasketball
. The advent of the new Palestra was indeed a "momentous happening," as
@dailypenn
called it at the time:
A massive blow for
@cornell_mbb
and the
@IvyLeague
to lose Brian Earl, who takes over at William & Mary and leaves the Big Red in significantly better shape than he found them in 2016:
Congrats to Penn for its first Big 5 championship in 17 years courtesy of its 77-70 victory at Temple. Penn's been excellent at getting great performances from unheralded bench talent under Steve Donahue. Today it was Kuba Mijakowski. Suddenly Penn's got momentum again.
Pete Carril, one of the greatest leaders and innovators in basketball history, has died at 92, per Princeton Athletics. IHO sends our deepest condolences to his family and all those who had the privilege to know him.

Yes, Princeton shot a solid 12-for-33 from three-point range, including 8-for-18 in the second half. But there was nothing fluky about the stellar interior and perimeter passing that set up those shots or the superior hustle that drove Princeton's 44-28 rebounding edge.
It was awesome to watch Antonio Woods tonight knowing how far he's come since being declared academically ineligible in Jan. 2016. Woods had 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals and really did it all on a team that clearly, truly, is a team.
Yale's win over Miami Saturday was its second-highest quality win of the KenPom era, behind only the 2016 NCAA Tournament win over Baylor. How the Elis got it done - and why:
🚨UPSET ALERT🚨
The Yale Bulldogs take down Michigan 69-60! This is the second 5/12 seed upset of the tournament simulation! Yale will face the winner of Oregon and New Mexico State!
#MarchMadness
Perhaps the NCAA Selection Committee wasn't paying attention to how Ivy League teams have fared in the Big Dance the past few seasons. No. 16 seed for Penn makes very little sense.
At the Fort Myers Tip-Off,
@PrincetonWBB
decimated No. 22 Oklahoma before falling short to No. 19 Indiana, with Madison St. Rose shining on as a top-flight scorer against the Sooners:
FINAL:
@CULionsWBB
defeats Boston College, 54-51, to advance to the Elite 8 of the WNIT after overcoming a 17-point first-half deficit despite shooting 0-for-20 from three-point range. A remarkable comeback.
