Most of us wouldn’t harm animals ourselves, why pay someone else to do it for us? Slaughterhouses only exist because we pay them. Every meal is a choice to either support that violent system or move away from it, and I vote for the latter.

Update: I spoke with a moderator and they said the reason for the ban is that self promotion isn't allowed in their sub (although they do allow self-promotion as long as it's by an active member and is about Zagreb). I made the case that if that was the issue, removing the post and telling me I'd broken their rules would have been fair, but an outright ban is a bit extreme. I asked if they'd consider lifting the ban, and some time later they informed me they'd lifted it. I still have a strong suspicion that the ban was a knee-jerk reaction to someone not appreciating having their views on animals challenged. I know these conversations are uncomfortable, but what animals go through is far, far more uncomfortable. We need to be having these tough conversations.

4 conversations about animals and our diets. One gets controversial when we ask what would Jesus do? 🎥👉🏻

Most of us were raised eating animals, but that doesn’t mean we can’t change. Just because something has always been done doesn’t make it right. Challenging our old habits can help create a better world for animals.

The hardest part of going vegan isn’t giving up foods, it’s challenging beliefs you’ve held your entire life. Once you see animals as individuals, change feels less like a sacrifice and more like living in alignment with your values.

We wouldn’t tolerate a dog being beaten, caged, or killed. But we accept it for pigs, cows, and chickens. Why? Intelligence and emotions aren’t limited to pets. All these animals deserve our compassion, regardless of the label we've given them.

Thank you for applying pressure on this. I totally agree that halal slaughter is unnecessarily cruel. It’s also unnecessarily cruel to bolt gun, gas or electroshock an animal and slit their throat (non-halal slaughter). The best thing we can do to help animals is eat animal-free.

Humane slaughter sounds kind, but ask yourself: If someone doesn’t want to die, and they're being killed for pleasure (e.g. for a burger), can there be a kind way to kill them? There is no good way to do the wrong thing, killing an animal for fun/pleasure/taste is wrong.

Pigs in farms and slaughterhouses don’t need words to express fear and suffering. Their screams, thrashing, and desperate attempts to escape say everything. And when they realise there is no escape, many of them go into a state of despair and deep depression. Fear and suffering aren't unique to humans, they're universal. And we have the power to stop causing it for animals.

@darrengrimes_ This is horrible. It reminds me of slaughterhouse workers holding the bloody lifeless bodies of the poor chickens they just killed. The chickens usually scream for their life too. It’s great to see people are choosing animal-free options instead.

This animal farmer thinks there's nothing wrong with this, and is suggesting I need help because I do see something wrong with it, what do you think?

This clip is just one example of the disgusting things farmers to do cows. Please choose animal-free alternatives.

Veganism isn’t about guilt. We’ve all made choices that hurt others. It’s not about judging the past, it’s about improving the future. It’s about recognising we can live our lives in a way that creates a better world for animals, and asking why shouldn't we?

Humans and animals aren't the same, this is a fact. But animals they feel pain, fear, and joy like us? Science says yes, and deep down, we know it too. If we can choose to live without farming, violating and killing animals who feel pain, fear and joy, isn’t that worth trying?

Convenience is a powerful motivator, but compassion is more meaningful. Eating animals might feel easy, but it comes at a cost to their lives, and our values.
