@finchard87 *Rader. and he probably is, solitary confinement is extremely cruel. isn’t it funny how in the, name of vengeance, we can become as monstrous as the people we seek to punish? and we call that humanity and justice.

they are trying to build another #CopCity in Columbus, Ohio.
Diabolical. State lawmakers in Ohio are using the police murder of Ta'Kiya Young & her unborn child as a reason to fund & build Cop City in Ohio. They say it's a "training facility", we say #StopCopCity in Ohio. From ATL to B-More to #KKKolumbus, @kamaufranklin tried to warn us.

diane is a prime example of a current global trend. in the grand scheme of things, “crime” is down. but messaging on crime is up. and when people are afraid, they often lean into authoritarian, even fascist beliefs. we’re seeing this all over the world right now.
I’d rather live in a society where those who don’t comply sometimes get shot but no criminal gets away from cops than one where criminals are empowered to simply run away because they know the cops can’t chase them and are afraid to use force (like in SF).

please read this story. the reality is that incarceration is not about “good” or “bad” people. that’s not even really how people work. it’s about what incarceration is and what it does to people, regardless of who they are when they enter. Keri captures this beautifully here.
I just found out one of my sources got killed. I'm sad, but I'm not gonna wax poetic about how he was a good guy. I’m not sure he was. But he was a great example of how broken the system is. And he did a lot to help expose that even without knowing it. THREAD:

is this journalism? it paints developers as addiction experts and features multiple pictures of people it calls “homeless” but does not interview a single unhoused person or even a nonprofit that actually works with unhoused people… embarrassing.
While the southern portion of downtown’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood features unique boutiques, sidewalk cafes, celebrated restaurants and yoga in the park, life is very different just a few blocks north.
