I received a text this morning from a kid asking for advice for the first game of his collegiate career. He’s starting as a freshman today. I first met/coached him the summer before he entered 7th grade. This is absolutely the most rewarding part of coaching.

almost 2 wks into our season & i LOVE this team. had an exhibition last night against a d1 opponent and never backed down, never hung our heads, never stopped being each others’ biggest fans. got home late last night & showed up today focused, hungry, & coachable.

Feeling nothing but gratitude towards every member of our program. After a tough start to the season against a gauntlet schedule, we showed resiliency, came together, and won 11 of our last 13, including 8 straight at one point.
Year 1 was fun.
Year 2 starts now.

My day: Has a GREAT prospect camp full of hard workers w great energy- & a camp staff that matched that energy! Played some Mario Kart @ home. Lost alot but lets not dwell on that. Played with Kylinn & put her to bed. Theres ice cream in the freezer. Blessed is an understatement.

My mom: a short thread. Got a degree in engineering from Texas A&M long before I was even born. Which is impressive enough by itself, esp considering she was a black woman going to TEXAS A&M in the 80s. Not long after, she quit her job to raise her kids. There are 3 of us.
