Artists. Stop worrying & complaining about friends (not) supporting you. Stop posting, "If your friends posted you like they post Beyonce, I could be big too" or "Real friends support each others' ventures".
At the end of the day, your dream is YOUR dream & your responsibility.
ARTISTS: DO NOT send a music link without any introduction. It is the spam message of the music industry. It is the unsolicited d*ck pic of the music industry. Even if the person knows you, it's mad weird.
We gonna work on this. Y'all was raised better than that lol.
Imagine Beyoncé, one of the greatest artists of all time, out here being classy and professional, apologizing for being late, and recording tracks in 15 mins...
...and MFers with nan one major accomplishment trying to be nasty and stuck up with you? Make it make sense.
As an artist, it's important to know that when it comes to your vision, most people are near-sighted: they can't see shit until it's big, bright, and right in their face. Can't let blind MFers lead your journey.
Looking for new music for the Lemme Put You On updates.
Artists, like/RT my last post and drop your music in the comments. Looking for R&B, Hip-Hop, or Alt-Wave.
Music Twitter, who are the major advocates/voices for rising and independent hip-hop?
I feel like I can easily identify the R&B voices (Tomi, Yan, GenDirect, Vibes, Beard, Chey, etc...) but who do y'all go to for your new fire rappers?
It's like a playa got his wings. Happy to officially announce myself as a verified tastemaker on
@audiomack
. S/O to the amazing
@cheyatl
, the legend
@joevango
, and the entire team.
Ceddy P, and the P now also stands for Plug 🔌.
As an outsider/underdog of the music industry, a lot of my wins have come from studying the game, outworking, and networking. From there, your work ethic and character often will lead you to people willing to advocate for you or put you on game.
Somebody told me it was Firefighter Appreciation Day, so I figured I'd share a pic of me in gear, cause on occasion I have to go in hot ass buildings to save baddies and babies.
Here are the 10
#TweetCommandments
I follow. RT & Share:
1. Correct your algorithm
2. Find who's poppin'
3. Find who likes what you offer
4. Engage in conversations
5. Create inclusive posts
6. Diversify your convos
7. Show love
8. Be visual
9. Take your time
10. Be consistent
R&B artists, drop your uptempo records in the comments. I know I gotta be in touch with my emotions as a progressive playa, but I also enjoy when the baddies back it up and dump it.
I need to curate accordingly.
One of the biggest takeaways from being in the music industry or creative field is the importance of building your own. When you build your own, there are opportunities to create leverage and standards that you don't often have trying to hop on someone else's wagon.
I have a theory that in the music industry, specifically the indie community, there are these unspoken "tiers" that artists land in throughout their careers. I'm big on my artists knowing where they are and where they want to go.
As a manager, it's my job to help navigate.
Getting playlisted is a sweet science, but there are definitely ways to help yourself and get in position to be added on playlists, including Audiomack, Tidal, Apple Music, and Spotify. Here's a quick guide to put your music in the game. A thread, if you will.
I owe y'all a thread. Today I wanna briefly discuss how to create more opportunities to get featured on playlists. Drop a GIF in the comments if you down to learn something.
#Makemoves
In my bald-headed opinion, you need one of these 4 things to break out in music.
1. Following
2. Money
3. Resources
4. Network
It's still work involved, but if you can pair 2-3 of these together, you can create a successful career.
ARTISTS, I know this journey can be challenging and frustrating at times. We gonna make it though, because it's all on us and I'm betting on myself 10 times out of 10.
Good morning to all the true playas and baddies working at the 9-5 side job to support your passion. Don't get it twisted; that's the side job. Make it work for you. Reply if it applies.
Damn playas...y'all showing out. I'm honored to announce that
#LemmePutYouOn
: R&B has reached 100,000 streams on
@audiomack
! That's really dope. Love y'all tapping in and taking a liking to something special. Let's keep running it up!
Take inventory of the things you accomplished this year. It's important to appreciate the positive steps you took and prepare to build on them in the next year. If you can do it in smaller increments (day, week, month), you'll succeed and appreciate the journey even more.
Artists (and artist teams), I say this to you as me & my team go thru the same thing: To elevate, you have to shift the energy around you. It's millions of artists out here, and the world will treat you as just another artist until you force them to see you differently.
Good morning to all the true playas and baddies fighting off the internal battles to reach new levels of greatness. Self-doubt, comparison, laziness, anxiety, etc can be formidable foes but they not as tough as you. Fuck them (disrespectfully). Reply if it applies.
It's time to update the
#LemmePutYouOn
R&B playlist on
@audiomack
! If you've been submitting through the form, perfect. If not, drop your best R&B song in the comments! AUDIOMACK LINKS ONLY!
If it's a wave, I may just play it on
#ThePlayasCircle
for Angie on Thursday!
So I saw a post from one of my favorite young artists and they were asking if it is common practice for a writer to charge to write an article.
I gave my opinion, which is no, but it made me think...do artists know what they should and should not be paying for?
I want to send my sympathy out to those directly and indirectly impacted by the alleged actions and indiscretions of RNB Tomi. If true, it’s disheartening and disgusting; I never want to imagine anyone, let alone a Black man harming women and taking advantage of people.
Me and the BX Baddie
@KiStorii
pulled up to the
@audiomack
studios yesterday and had a fun time previewing "Shawty Lo" for The Mack. S/O to
@__angiek
for the hospitality and the grapefruit sparkling water. 6️⃣ days left, y'all!
My girl nearing her first 1K subscribers on YouTube, so I'm lending a hand.
Artists, subscribe to Ki Storii's channel, send me a screenshot and then send me a song! I'll review it personally for my playlists. I'll review everyone until she hits 1000.
ARTISTS/CREATIVES- If you're in need of guidance, assistance, or resources to help you advance your career, reach out to a playa for my branding/marketing services.
I think we as music professionals as a whole can be better at how offer information and insight to the community. Hate seeing ppl talking down to them; our accomplishments don't give us the right to minimize their journey. It's like, are we trying to empower or embarrass them?
NSYNC was broke , not picking up steam in the US, grinding in Europe family telling them to come home … JC Chasez told the team get on my back I’m going to feed our families …
The way I breakdown the tiers is silly, but straightforward:
1. "Keep grinding"
2. "This is surprisingly good"
3. "I don't say much, but I see you making moves"
4. "...and more"
5. "Now featuring"
6. "Y'all sleeping on"
7. "Next to blow"
8. "AOTY"

Presenting an update of
#LemmePutYouOn
: R&B on
@audiomack
. I'll be honest: I've been meaning to update, but I've been doing way too much. So I called on the Siren herself
@bairithesiren
to help me curate.
As usual, she didn't disappoint.
Stream Here:
@Riqnation2432
@Cowboys_FanTalk
That dude trippin. AJ Brown destroying ppl and with bias, I'll take Scary Terry over CeeDee. McLaurin getting it with Heineke being the most consistent QB he's played with.
I love to promote
@Audiomack
because they offer advocacy & education for indie artists. AM also give more access to the curators and execs associated with the company, which prompted other companies to be more transparent.
Artists, do you feel unseen/unheard when left off playlists, shows, blog features, or out of conversations about rising artists? How do you gain visibility & build recognition from the elite writers and curators?
Here are a playa's tips to earn coverage (A THREAD, if you will):
Artists, use your social media as a way to connect instead of using it as a release. Express yourself with the goal of RELATING to your audience instead of just RAMBLING. Doing so allows them to grow with you and have a stronger connection and interest in supporting you.
Artists/Creatives, there is a lot of insight and advice on how to take your career from 20-100. The issue is many ppl are searching for how to put the car in gear, or even start the car.
If you're looking to get in motion, my services are available.
Good morning to all the true playas and baddies with a record or content in the vault that's going to be a breakthrough moment. Roll that shit out; the streets need it. Reply if it applies.
Looking for young playlist curators or music lovers interested in curation to assist with
@whogotthewave
. If interested, DM me (professionally). Tag any young curators or ppl of interest.
PLEASE NOTE: NOT LOOKING FOR ARTISTS TRYING TO GET THEIR MUSIC FEATURED ATM
My music homies came out and celebrated a playa while I was out Cali. It's refreshing to have such a group of talented people in your network that are genuinely good ppl as well.
Nothing but love for y'all.
Support is used to help bear (some of the) weight or provide assistance, but it doesn't enhance or complete. Financial aid don't pay the full amount, support bras don't make the titties big, and knee pads don't make you jump like D. Rose.
You gotta be the main reason.
Here are sensible purchases and expenses for young independent artists:
1. Content Creation
2. Design
3. Ad
4. PR/Marketing
5. Influencer Promo
6. Consulting
7. Administrative Team
8. Networking/Educational Opportunities
9. Revenue Drivers
Good morning to all the true playas and baddies that know they belong in the room, and act accordingly. We're in a culture where people love to diminish your worth. First off you are YOU, which is quite enough; secondly, let your work be the affirmation. Reply if it applies.
Artists/Creatives, please watch this. I've personally had to deal with several service providers who mistreat paying customers because they've done a work for a famous celebrity who doesn't care about them. The credibility is in the work, not in the client list.
Here are 6 reasons not to be consumed with your friends supporting your music/business:
1. They aren't your target audience
2. A supporter ≠ fan
3. The nature of the relationship isn't based on your business
4. They don't see the star
5. Not required to!
6. It's a distraction
Good morning to all the true playas and baddies that love what they do and the art they create. And you out here trying to build people up? Ayeee...I see you. Continue to deliver the goods. Reply if it applies.
Sync licensing is definitely one of the ways to make sustainable money, but not the only way. To be transparent though, most of the ways to earn money require a fanbase, start-up capital, or networks/resources. If you have more than one of them, you greatly increase your chances.
My experience has been that many ppl in the music industry have someone's foot on their neck, so consciously or subconsciously they repeat the trauma to someone they feel they have elevated over. Everybody wanna feel big here because you got always someone trying to diminish you.
