In 1976 I was a was a freshman in high school and the United States was celebrating 200 years. It sucked! Carter was to become POTUS, Vietnam had just ended in failure and disgrace, and the USSR was beating us down all over the world. We were all being told we would be nuked at any day, and the Gay bathhouses in NYC began spreading a devastating scourge in the land that became known as AIDS. It totally sucked and Jimmy Carter as POTUS willfully managing the decline of the dream called America. We were prime for a fall of the republic. But now here we are 50 years later and in 2026 we celebrate 250 years with the greatest American president of my lifetime. Party like it is morning in America. Eat shit haters.
