Fantastic to welcome @glasgow_sugar back to CHM, and to hear more about his research into Ewing and the Glasgow Sugar Aristocracy. Built for Ewing in 1824, our building is just one of the physical reminders in rural Scotland of the wealth generated from Caribbean slavery.
It was wonderful to welcome back Dr Mullen (@glasgow_sugar) this evening, who gave his talk titled ‘James Ewing of Strathleven: Caribbean Slavery and the making of Castle House.’ Dr Mullen is an engaging speaker and his research was greatly enjoyed by all. Thank you! 🌟

It was great to attend the @MuseumofBrands Reminiscence Training last week! This was an insightful session that covered how to run creative reminiscence sessions effectively with people living with dementia. I can’t wait to get started with sessions in the local community.

@castle_museum reopened at the start of April and it’s been fantastic to welcome visitors again from both near and far. We’ve had some great reviews in the visitor book so far this season, it’s lovely to see that they have enjoyed their visit as much as we did! 🌟

It was great to welcome visitors again at the start of this month, and to see them enjoying the activities. I created a Victorian Easter Trail around Castle Gardens, and received positive in-person feedback that it was both fun and educational. 🐣 ✨
lt was lovely to see visitors enjoying our seasonal activities at the start of the month. Many took part by following our Victorian Easter trail around Castle Gardens, and making bunny garlands and 3D hanging eggs at the craft table. The Easter Bunny himself even popped in. 🐰

As part of my role at Castle House Museum, I researched and composed a blog post for #WomensHistoryMonth. I really enjoyed learning more about some of the trailblazing women who called Dunoon home around one hundred years ago. 🏡 [

What a fab day sharing Dunoon’s connections to the suffragettes for #InternationalWomensDay! I led the Suffrage Trail, and then greatly enjoyed Hannah’s talk. One attendee said: ‘Great tour leader and speaker. I never knew this town had been so full of radical women!’ 🌟
(1/3) Thank you to everyone who celebrated #InternationalWomensDay with us yesterday. 🌟 First was the Dunoon Suffrage Trail, led by Museum Assistant Iona. We also welcomed PhD researcher Hannah Speed who shared her great work on ‘The Scottish Suffragettes in their Own Words.’
