When a bus is retired, they sell for around $2k. This bus sleeps 31 people. They park outside of homeless shelters to provide overflow so no one sleeps outside in the cold! Total cost to build was $100k. Why are there not more bus shelters especially in cold weather cities!

posts daily news on homelessness, I am always looking for photos. This morning, I found these. One of my biggest concerns as homelessness grows is people will become anesthetized to it. It's already happening in many communities.

There’s a homeless woman out here with severe mental illness I run into every day. She’s probably been abused a lot. I have tried to give her socks many times but she won’t talk to me. That just changed. She took a pair of socks and gave me a big smile! I AM HAPPY!

Today I toured a shipping container housing site. Unlike the tiny shacks politicians call homes, these are not referred to as homes even though they have bathrooms, which the tiny shacks do not. This project is very promising providing dignity to people soon to be living there!

Olga lives in a tent in Los Angeles. She has a part time job working as a maid at a hotel in Nothridge. She is one of several homeless people we talked to today that have jobs but just cannot afford to pay for rent.

Criminalizing homelessness and giving tickets to people who have no other choice but to pitch a tent and sleep outside makes zero sense. Criminalization does nothing to end homelessness and is a complete waste of taxpayer money.

It’s hard for people to understand why a homeless person won’t give up their pet. For starters, housed people don’t want to give up their pets either. For many homelsss people, their pet is the only love they receive. Pets are also a distraction from the hell of homelessness!
I asked Nicole why she sleeps next to the street. She responded they force her to sleep there. I thought it was her mental illness speaking, but then Nicole continued, “it’s illegal for me to sleep close to a building or near a door, so I have to sleep here.” THINK ABOUT THAT!
