I’m here to avoid my friends on Facebook. Just a dude on the internet, left Chicago for living on a farm in appalachia. I post whatever I find interesting.

Funny, the wife and I were just talking about the education system. I told her if I could do it all over and decide a curriculum it would go something along the lines of this. Age 5-6 - First few years teach the kid social skills: manners, respect, hygene, picking up after yourselves, working with others, etc... Age 6-9 - Reading and Math, that's it. 2-3 hours a day, only those things. Teach them how to read, comprehend what they read and do math. You can condense everything you learned in math from grade school through high school down to a few years. Age 9-11 - 50/50 split on History and Self Sustainability. All History, of course, but also how to grow/preserve food, start a fire, fish, hunt, how to process your meat, build a hut, purify water, etc. Everything a person would need to know to survive in the world without our technologies. Show them how to cook and make everything from scratch: cheese, viniger, bread, butter, sauces, whipping cream, you name it. Basically all the lost knowledge of our ancestors. Age 11-12 - Here are all the systems we've built in society and how to use them. Taxes, Banks, Loans, Trust accounts, Credit, how money works, Governments, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, C-Corp, S-Corp, Investing, Stocks, etc... We live in a world where no one knows how all these important institutions in our lives work and frankly it's retarded. Age 12-15 - Let them gravitate to anything they have an interest in. Have books on literally everything. Plumbing, Programming, Medical books, Business, hair cutting, law, etc... literally everything. They should spend a few years diving into things that peak their interest and naturally progress towards or are gifted in. Age 15 and up - Specialize whatever they've decided they want to do. This would be a trade or college type of school.

@sky2kprincess @D9N9ABI9 It's so baffling England had to send warships to Africa's coast to try and stop them from selling their own people.

@Grummz Fuck em. We're taking gaming back.
Not only for that reason but also as a challenge to hopefully affect culture if the game ever took off. There's no reference to lgtbqxyz-1+, no lefty game studio diversity push or pronouns, no weird story where the lead has to be a US minority queer 15 yr old zey/them (where the player decides between stupid woke talking points), just a good old fashioned original story with guys and gals based in good morals. There's even a normal, staight people love story thrown in between two of the characters. (Shocking by todays standards) The story setting, though, is quite familiar. In a world where monsters mysteriously appear spreading an unknown disease, the kingdoms begin to move away from a nationalist society into a global order, in locking down their villages in hopes of slowing the spread of this disease. Unbeknownst to world leaders, these monsters are actually being summoned by an evil cult known as the One Order by its leaders Klaws and Yuval. This cult is also funded by three evil sorcerers. Lord Burnschild, Jorge Goros, and Mr. Gill Bates. These "philanthropists" convince the 4 kingdoms of the world to unify in locking down their people and to let them assist in defeating the monsters through 4 methods. Greed, Fear, Control, or Raw Power. The real reason, though, is to use this as an excuse to search their lands in pursuit of the lost Tablets of Power in hopes to summon the true demonic leader of the One Order, Drago. The story isn't thrown in the players face about the true intentions of the parallels between fantasy and the events of 5 years ago, including references to who the bad guys really are, but more focused on character development, good morals, and memorable moments to leave the player either laughing, maybe crying, shocked, or saying to themselves, "I cant believe that is in this game?!" The gameplay is true to an SNES ff6 or chrono trigger style. Active turn-based battles and maps where each one has its own "thing" or puzzle to solve. The scenes and dialog become an IYKYK thing but many of seeds dropped to make the player feel as though, "Man, this sounds very familair." The ending of the game, again unbeknownst to the player that this was the true intentions, takes a stab at societies hero complex. Focusing more on selfless acts to help others with the notion, "It's better to be the hero in someone elses story than to make it purely about yourself." All that being said, I think I cleverly crafted something with a good story, dialog, scenes, and a character for everyone. 3 years of work put together in a 30-40 hour RPG. So if you're into the golden era of classic RPGs, it's worth giving this one a try.
