Oh, in my opinion I did, because it wasn't the Zverev side, but the co-plaintiff who signalled to the public prosecutor's office that she wanted to end the trial, whereupon the public prosecutor's office filed the motion to do so. As this trial was preceded by custody disputes in the family court, there were of course out-of-court discussions to reach an agreement in the best interests of the child.

@whinerali @egrrrrrl8446 @Ke146Tennis @Zwxsh Incidentally, there is also a good reason to agree to the co plaintiff's wish to end the court proceedings. There is a child involved.

Your answer shows that you have not dealt with the details of the case and the trial at all. The co-plaintiff no longer wanted to continue the trial, the public prosecutor's office and the other side agreed. The judge had already considered dropping the criminal proceedings before the main hearing began.

I was thinking exactly the same. I had already started to write a document with all the links, screenshots etc. But then I didn't pursue it any further because after this trial I was so exhausted and annoyed by all these people here. You're right, they believe what they want to believe and facts are actually the last thing they're interested in.

Of course, he is frustrated and struggles for a while. That's normal when you haven't been able to achieve something you wanted so badly. But he is an athlete and has therefore been used to dealing with setbacks since childhood. If you ask me, I'd say that will only fuel the engine even more to prove it to himself and everyone out there. He might need a few days now and then it's back to work. And I think it's helpful to have people like Novak to talk to who understand exactly what it's all about.

@egrrrrrl8446 Yes, I have read it. He actually managed to bring the topic back to his timeline in large numbers. Even though there was a Grand Slam final 🤔

Wrong. 150,000 of the "Geldauflage" went to the state coffers and €50,000 to a collection fund for charitable organisations. Nowhere does it say that it went to domestic violence charities. Maybe take the trouble to inform yourselves properly, then you can write something meaningful about it and not spread completely uninformed false information.

Absolutely. People's minds immediately go in that direction when they hear the word settlement. But they don't know anything about it. And I don't know how many hours of my life I've spent explaining the German legal system (mostly unsuccessfully, unfortunately) and translating every single word about the trial.

No problem, I'm glad that I can contribute something to the explanation. I know the background and all the publicised facts inside out, as I knew that the German legal system would be difficult to understand and that there would be little fact-based information available outside the German press.

It's interesting that you can confirm this from your own perspective. They didn't understand, or didn't want to understand, that the German legal system is different and that the penalty order procedure is probably quite unique. I don't think that even a single foreign journalist has bothered to speak to a German lawyer who has expertise.

Look, it's completely irrelevant to discuss this. The fact remains that the co-plaintiff no longer wanted to continue the trial after the opening statements, the public prosecutor's office and the other side agreed to this. This does not constitute an admission of guilt and he is still considered innocent. It is absolutely normal to pay a “Geldauflage” in this case, which is not the same as a fine.

@FollowTTours It was a tough moment for him. But in the German part of the press conference, he sounded much more ready to fight again and I'm pretty sure he will be very soon back on the practice court to improve.
