The diverse life stages of ghasts (huge aerial opportunists/scavengers) are a basis of a lot of the Nether’s aerial and magmatic (aka, on the “sea”) ecosystems. Adult ghasts are highly territorial and aggressive, and will eat smaller ghasts, even their own young.

People need to go more atmospheric and surrealist with minecraft horror. There’s a reason why herobrine did so well. Take advantage of the pre-existing peculiarities in Minecraft — A deep sense of dread or “off-ness” is more powerful than just giving the player a heart attack.

And finally…Ghast tears are actually a waste product, and is the nether equivalent of ambergris in terms of value. In the Good Old Days (before the piglins society collapsed) piglin poachers would hunt ghasts in airships with large netherite harpoons and make an insane fortune.

Thank you! I figured he’d know quite a bit about herbalism and whatnot because in my world the cleric of that village (Father Reinard) is his adoptive father-figure. He taught him how to write, read, and how to identify wildflowers, fungi and such.

Ghasts are generally very important to the nether as a whole. Various fungus species are dependent on their spores hitching a ride on these living hot air balloons, and life flourishes in wake of the insane amounts of destruction these spectacular beasts can cause when fighting.
