In Syria, hospitals face immense challenges, but thanks to our partnership with @sams_usa, we can help equip medical teams with critical supplies. When Salma travelled 150km to Idlib to give birth, surgical sutures donated by IHP helped ensure her caesarean section was a success, providing safety and care in a time of crisis.

The conflict in #Gaza has severely impacted the health system, leaving North Gaza with almost no functional health facilities. Since October 2023, @WHO has documented 75 attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital, 63 on Al-Awda Hospital, and 28 on Indonesian Hospital, resulting in severe damage and destruction to all three facilities. Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals are currently non-functional, while restoration efforts are underway at Al-Awda Hospital. As part of its 60-day plan, WHO is scaling-up efforts to support early recovery and rebuild Gaza's health system, focusing on restoring essential health services and making hospitals operational.

Iryna, a haematologist at a city hospital in east Ukraine, tells us about the biggest challenge patients with haematological diseases face during the ongoing crisis. 💙 IHP has been working alongside our partner, @projecthopeorg, to deliver essential oncology treatments and supplies to Ukraine, such as those to treat leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma that arise from abnormal blood or bone marrow cells. The need for continued support in these communities is evident, and we continue to strive for accessible healthcare. 🔄 Repost to help raise awareness of our essential work.

Amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, those diagnosed with cancer are struggling to access the treatment they need. Our partnership with @projecthopeorg helps provide essential treatment and support to people like Andryi. Without this, people would be unable to afford their necessary treatment and would go untreated. 🔄 Repost to help raise awareness of this vital work.

This #WorldNeglectedTropicalDiseaseDay, we are talking about one of the most prevalent NTDs in the world 🌍 Soil-transmitted helminths. Over 6 million children in 27 counties in Kenya are currently at risk. As a result of stagnant water and contaminated soil, these worms are spreading and thriving in the Samburu County. Our ongoing deworming programme with @worldconcern, has been going since 2020. Through our shipments of Mebendazole (de-worming medication), we have reached almost 10 million people across Kenya and Somaliland! This programme is especially critical for the children in these communities, who benefit from increased nutritional uptake, reduced infections, improved development and increased school attendance. Read more about the impact of this programme here:

The ceasefire in Gaza this past Sunday brings a sense of renewed hope that aid response will be expedited and humanitarians will be able to access and support some of the over 1.9 million people currently in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. “Alongside the rest of the international community, we welcome this long-awaited moment...We stand with our colleagues at the WHO, UN agencies, and the international community as a whole in calling for guaranteed, unrestricted access in order to deliver essential aid supplies." "‍The task ahead is monumental and complex. We must see an immediate increase in the flow of aid, free and safe movement for humanitarian and civilian workers, and the lifting of all restrictions. Now is the time for streamlined approval processes, efficiencies, and action." - Louise Hart, IHP’s Programmes Director. Last year, we reached over 6.47 million patients across 24 countries 🌍—bringing critical healthcare support to vulnerable and disaster-struck communities. From delivering essential medical supplies to providing life-saving oncology medication, we worked hand-in-hand with our incredible local partners to meet diverse healthcare needs. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our amazing partners in pharmaceuticals, logistics, and NGOs. 💙

The UN estimates 44% of people in Gaza are unable to cope with the effects of winter. As communities struggle to keep warm, the risk of respiratory-related illnesses is particularly prevalent due to the burning of harmful materials. Heavy rainfall and severely damaged infrastructure also leave thousands vulnerable to damp, muddy and wet living conditions. Read more about the deadly impact of winter in Gaza 👇
