I read this book about 5 years ago, and a similar memoir that a woman named Nina wrote- called Bright Hour, also critically acclaimed.
This is the interesting bit.
The widow of ‘When Breathe becomes air’ and the Widower of Bright Hour’ fell in love and are now MaRRIED.
When I completed this book, I was SHOOK! Till date, no book has moved me as much as it did.
Only for me to look at it and see that it was a “Finalist” for the Pulitzer Prize. I quickly went to find out what book could have possibly been selected over this one.
