A team of Idaho Power superheroes recently rescued an osprey tangled in twine. They safely got the bird out of the nest and covered his head with a hard hat to keep him calm while they removed the twine from his feet.

Last night, some of our power poles were caught in the path of the Goose Creek fire in the Boise Foothills. Crews got to work as soon as it was safe to do so, working through the night to get four poles replaced by 5am

5 crews are working today to restore an outage caused by this morning's vehicle accident in SE Boise. We restored power to 2,500 customers this morning & are working hard to get the power back on for those remaining. 8 poles were impacted by the accident, with 6 needing replaced.

Our Pocatello area crews worked hard to restore power for our customers after the Chinese Peak Fire destroyed eight power poles in the foothills. Kudos to our linemen for working quickly and safely to replace the poles less than 24 hours after the fire!

We protect wooden power poles from wildfire by wrapping them with a protective mesh and keeping plants – which can burn when they dry out – from growing near them. These practices help keep energy reliable and affordable by reducing the number of poles we replace due to wildfire.
