Similar to the manxcare appointment shambles, the solutions are simple but for some reason we are reluctant to acknowledge the problem and fix it. Blaming the patients is easier.

How difficult is it to introduce a triage system that filters calls and assigns appointments based on medical need? Why haven't we done it?

@Amadeus_IOM I think government has no business deciding which group of adults can buy a taxed product sold in shops. This is another dead cat, pushing out a controversial topic so we stop looking at the constant stream of negative press around excess government spending.

@joeyconc @ManxRadio You are 100% right, it does paint a bleak picture, bleaker still that nobody has a plan to fix anything. Tough decisions are required, but we lack the leadership to pivot and make the right decisions. I expect more tax increases and the super rich to carry on avoiding them.

@Gedpower I think it's quite obvious that every department needs to have its budget stringently reviewed and ALL excess spending removed. Some departments are spending like they have won the lottery, the 10% tax increase was unjust when we look at some of the spending this year.

@joeyconc @ManxRadio The problem is only going to worsen, an unlimited amount of old retirees moving here after paying nothing into the system and receiving "free" healthcare at the expense of our own elderly residents.

@BDSlater1 @Gedpower Agreed. If you vote to impose a 10% tax increase as well as awarding even more departments then the honourable thing to do would be to resign from the department and vote against the budget.
