@GregoryJLawler2 Mr. Goodman was furious, apologized to a maelstrom of postal complaints, returned $$$—and SLAMMED THE DOOR ON FOOM from his end! Stan and greed had outsmarted themselves—and NOTHING IS AS SATISFYING AS SOMEONE WHO IS SO SMART, THEY OUTSMART THEMSELVES!!! End of story!

@GregoryJLawler2 The fanboys in the office took over, and turned the concept into a promotional catalog—NO MORE INTERVIEWS, PUZZLES, or ORIGINAL MARVEL GAMES! It became an ADZINE—and membership began to dwindle—then, it was discovered membership $$$ were being stolen and incoming orders trashed!

@GregoryJLawler2 FOOM stood for Friends Of Old Marvel (Stan's only contribution)! My company did ALL the bookkeepinmg, paperwork, and mailings—a staggering amount of work! Then, Stan decided the bullpen could take care of it, better than I could—and pulled the plug!!!

@GregoryJLawler2 I agreed to CREATE THE COMPLETE MEMBERSHIP KIT, the ILLUSTRATED ENVELOPE, lots of STICKERS, THE FOOM POSTER and seasonal mini-tab issues, which I'd write, design, and produce! All I asked for was TWO PAGES in the magazine for myself! I created 4-5 issues of games and Marvel fun!!

@GregoryJLawler2 Hey, Greg! After MARVELMANIA folded, Stan wanted to initiate another Marvel fan club—and mentioned it to me! I had extensive experience in printing production—from creation to fulfillment—and made him a deal he couldn't refuse: I'd CREATE EVERY ITEM IN THE PACKAGE AT NO CHARGE!!!

@areyouroyalty Hey, Cliff! Thanx for the correction re TOBY WING! I was probably thinking about the handful of minor films her name was high on the opening-credit cards! At least, you and I haven't forgotten her!!!

@JimMorrisonsTub Hey, Tocci! One of the aspects which I liked about Dick Powell's performance in MURDER, MY SWEET was his sarcastically humorous delivery—UNDER the bare-knuckle guise! Mark Stevens had less than none in his tough-guy THE DARK CORNER performance!!!

@areyouroyalty Hey, Cliff! I don't know who called TOBY WING the HOTTEST showgirl in America (probably her press agent), but she was in couple low-end flix after her unforgettable (unbilled and no dialogue) appearance in 42nd STREET and no one noticed! What the...

@JimMorrisonsTub Hey, Tocci! While we're talking about actors and acting, I've NEVER seen Robert Mitchum ACT! I've seen Olivier act, Brando act, Orson Welles act, but not Mitchum! He doesn't act, he does SOMETHING ELSE! So does ROBERT RYAN!

@areyouroyalty Hey, Cliff! Thanx for that NOIR answer! It's still a mystery to me HOW DICK POWELL convinced RKO he could be a tough guy after singing I'M YOUNG AND HEALTHY in 42nd STREET! Remember THAT blonde bombshell with him—TOBY WING!!!

@JimMorrisonsTub Hey, Tocci! Mitchum played Philip Marlowe in THE BIG SLEEP and FAREWELL, MY LOVELY (the remake of MURDER, MY SWEET)! The latter, to which you refer, was shot in England IN COLOR, which I felt deeply lacked the real essence of noir—especially the LOOK!!! Try LAURA & THE KILLERS!

@JimMorrisonsTub Hey, Tocci! Robert Mitchum's BEST PI performance and one of the finest films in that genre was as Jeff Markham in OUT OF THE PAST! Check who wrote the screenplay: Daniel Mainwaring (based on his novel BUILD MY GALLOWS HIGH), James M. Cain & Frank Fenton (both uncredited)!!!
