Congrats @JilongQ on putting together the good story and rewriting the widely held view, outside of the sugar community, that surface polysaccharides are merely an accessory component. It had been important to the sugar and bacterial evolution community, and now, far beyond that.

We are pleased to share our latest work uncovering that the disruptions of the linkages between bacterial outer membrane and peptidoglycan enhances the resistance to bile salts!

The original paradigm regarding the special status of the initial sugar still holds true, and I suspected this may be related to how the several membrane proteins, including the flippase and initial transferase, physically interact—another rabbit hole in polysaccharide synthesis

Very happy to see this heroic attempt to crystalise Wzx flippase from the Naismith and Whitfield groups finally out, was involved in heterologous overexpressing part of it 12 years ago, so emotionally damaged that I shifted to soluble proteins eversince.

@DrMel_T I had to teach buruli ulcer to students and we know very little of it, and honestly the way our system works like patching whatever breaks is an aweful way of investing for the future.

@SteveOhfromOZ @StephenMcc33084 @GlobalXInt @Locati0ns You probably meant Uyghurs, as there is a lot of propaganda from both China and the West. One has to visit the region to judge fairly. It doesn't seem like you care much, though, given the misspelling. Nonetheless, as someone who grew up in Australia, you’ve swung the wrong bat.
