What really spelled difference in this match is Lasalle’s blocking waking up. The quick adjustments made by CRDJ and how the girls responded to it was just a showcase of mastery. Lasalle’s offense is still great despite missing Angel Canino.

What really worked for DLSU this match — they were able to activate multiple points of attack, whether off the bench or the starters. No one played terribly but CRDJ’s strategy was deep that even a 11-pt output of Jolina needed to be complimented by 9 from Alleiah.

The fifth set was just a mastery of how CRDJ system works. The serves not only targeted and isolated the OHs but it forced NU to exclusively go to OPP. The perimeter defense of LaSalle rotated a little so Mars can be a part of the digging. This was the game changer.

In the end, while it was a great show of talent from both schools. La Salle’s edge was how deep their bench is & having different role-players in the game intended for specific plays. NU has a harder time in reading La Salle’s setting because of multiple players contributing.

In set 2, NU has very strong transition play & La Salle needed to sideout more. The insertion of Provido exposed NU’s waterloo, their middles. Even if the pass was off the setter’s box, Lams would try to activate her middles but Provido stuck w/ neutral and guarded the middles.

Her approach is very clean & her body mechanics from approach to rotation is sound but I’ve noticed when she hits the d-ball she sometimes locks her shoulders & stops her armswing. That technique is normally done to favor spin and ball control. It’s a very calculated move. (2/x)
