Vector Pixels.
Process is pretty fun. Paste your vector piece, scale to the size you like, copy, delete, then paste again, lock, then paste on top. Take the top version, Object>>Rasterize. Once done, Object>>Create Object Mosaic. Then have fun. Delete bits, move bits. Boom

Defiance Tiger Time Lapse. I generally don't invest much time into sketches since all the main work is done digitally and allows me to figure it out based on mood / style or structure. Same piece can be done highly detailed or simple.
