He's gone. He's terrified of vets so she gave him a sedative in my car before he went in. He fell asleep in my arms and didn't wake up and for that kindness I'll be forever grateful.
Starmer may well have a 200 plus seat majority by Friday but you’re guaranteed to hear from Corbynites that this compares unfavourably to their performance in 2017. Just remember that’s because they are fucking mental.
"Understand you're disappointed in your MP - especially getting his cock out in front of a junior member of staff - so please elect his girlfriend instead" is an interesting way to attempt to win a by-election.
So the owners of Rayner's old council house say she did live there, they still receive letters for her at the address and that she had renovation work done in the kitchen - which can offset cap gains tax. Apart from that, she's bang to rights, lads...
My partner is a civil servant and a key worker and was told yesterday both of us could have a test for coronavirus if we want one. Neither of us are showing symptoms so apart from helping to hit a meaningless target of 100k what is the actual point?
The decision to suspend seven left-wing Labour MPs last night was a mistake. It was too heavy-handed. And just as bad, it's strategically unsound, creating more problems than it solves.
Omg this is hilarious from Daly. Accusing Chris Bryant of 'shouting very loudly'. Do watch this Tory MP soil himself very publicly on the telly box. They clearly have nowt on Rayner.

Conservative James Daly MP refuses to answer multiple times when asked what he thinks Angela Rayner has done wrong, despite being the person who contacted the police about her.

Look, I live in a red wall seat, I'm a Northerner, from a working class background, and can honestly reassure you it's absolutely fine to call Lee Anderson a bellend. We really won't be offended.
Disappointed in Jess Phillips - she's given up the domestic violence roll where she had the potential to implement policies that could change people's lives to vote for an ammendment that will change absolutely nothing and won't save one single life in the conflict.
The MP for *Dover* contacts you, she wants to help cause maximum damage to the PM and help you to get the message out there that former Tories are joining Labour and says she will stand down at the next election and you say no thanks? Don't be daft.
You don't mock someone for talking about mental health. You don't mock them for talking to the samaritans. You don't do that if you're a decent human being and definitely don't do it if you're an MP.
Shameful stuff.
Vile Internet troll in personal issues shock. Cares little for the welfare of others however when spouting her foul-mouthed bile on twitter. Excuse me for playing the world’s smallest violin 🎻
@v_j_freeman
I genuinely can't get my head around how a gay man can type out those words and think he's made any kind of valid point at all. I've read it several times and still I'm left with 'what the actual fuck'?
Started reading this - obviously because I'm a loner with no friends- Starmer really should try to talk more about his life before politics. Proper working class lad made good. Not what a lot of voters will think about him....
My take is Starmer doesn't need to promise exciting and bold promises that the Tory press will spin and lie about before the election - he can do all that stuff when he wipes out the Tories and wins so big Labour are in power for a decade. Maybe that's the strategy, eh?
2/ Rayner's "scum" comment reflects exactly how working class people talk - and how many voters want to see the super-rich crooks characterised ... yet Keir couldn't bring himself to endorse it...
Keir Starmer cares more about winning the General Election than he does about sometimes making Labour members & MPs feel a bit queasy and uncomfortable. Good - exactly as it should be.
I'm from a working class family, single parent dad, brought up in a council house, we didn't have much money and I'm getting fucking sick of privileged middle class wankers suggesting the racist scum on the streets last night speak for families like mine. They don't.
Top work from Wes - every interviewer is now asking Labour people to list the 6 pledges, which is certainly not unhelpful to the party in getting the message across....
BREAK: Starmer statement “I regret some colleagues felt unable to support the position tonight.. leadership is about doing the right thing. That is the least the public deserves. And the least that leadership demands”
I'm absolutely overwhelmed with the lovely comments from complete strangers. Best of twitter and best of people. Sorry I can't reply to them all but I'm so genuinely touched. It's lovely. Thank you.

When Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader I left the Party and voted against them at every election. He's a stain on the history of our party. Starmer has brought morality back to the heart of the Labour Party which is why I rejoined and will campaign to help get us into power.
This from Tim Shipman in the Sunday Times really does sum up how bad Sunak is at the job. He's had a lifetime of people telling him how amazing he is and can't cope with normal everyday people responding with an 'actually, you're shit at this mate'.
The thing about wealthy people like James is they can afford their purity. He's never experienced a day of financial hardship in his privileged life. Other people pay the price for his luxury beliefs. As they are doing now under the Tories.
“It’s a recipe for Keir Starmer being the most hated man in Britain by the end of [the next] parliament."
A potential Labour government will fail unless they ‘develop some actual policies,’ argues
@schneiderhome
.
Lots of snarky replies to this - many from the usual suspects on the left - but Starmer is right. Sneer all you like but people hate this kind stuff. It's low level, constant antisocial behaviour and it grinds people down.
In his tough on crime speech Sir Keir Starmer says the smell of cannabis wafting through windows of family homes in neighbourhoods is "ruining in lives"
@anyabike
As a gay man I'm finding it very odd that people are calling this out as homophobia. A straight man taking cock picks at work whilst working for a children's charity? Out of a job. But gay? Well it's what we do isn't it? To be expected from those party types. It's pathetic.

"I resigned... remember when people used to do that when they made a mistake.. you haven't seen that forever with this lot.. they'd be none of them left"
She's gone at the GE, she wants to finish Sunak off - Labour happy to oblige. If you want to talk about unpalatable MPs that are tolerated on the sidelines, I've got an hour to talk about John Mcdonnell if you'd like.
Labour is now run by people who have the interests of the country - the voters, the many as their top priority. If you don't like that feel free to do one. Door's right over there, it's open for you and your mates...
At our best, Labour is a mass membership organisation, funded by and run in the interests of the many: ordinary members & trade unions.
The Tories are financed by corporate donors - the few.
The party of labour should not be emulating them.
@SamCoatesSky
Very odd of him to say the voters of Selby and Ainsty don't want MPs like Keir Mather when - checks notes- they have just elected him in a historic win for Labour.
Said this before, but if anything summed up the state of Labour in 2019 it was 2 canvassers arguing on the doorstep with my dad - a previously life long Labour voter - that he was wrong about Corbyn, 'the Jewish issue', defence and on and on. You'll never guess what happened next
I wish I had the confidence of left wing commentators who having delivered Labour's worst election result since the 30s can argue Starmer's problem in the polls is the Party is not far enough to the left.
Good to see OJ has taken a few hours off from attacking JK Rowling's essay where she disclosed she'd been abused to spend time attacking the Sun who gave a platform to the man JK Rowling disclosed in her essay had abused her. Perfectly normal behaviour.
This crank doesn't feel like he has a home in the Labour Party anymore. Absolutely correct, he doesn't. It's a mark of Starmer's leadership that he left. Rubbish out 🗑

Been thinking of my best mate today, Gavin, who worked most of his life but had times- sometimes a year - where his depression and anxiety meant he couldn't even get out of bed let alone work. In the end,he killed himself. Mental health can be and is a killer. And Sunak is a c*nt
Pathetic. You lost. Absolutely nothing in that shiny manifesto was implemented. You then decimated the party at the next election. You either win or you lose in an election. You lost twice. Perhaps you can afford the consequences, but people from where I come from can't.
6 years ago today concluded the most remarkable campaign in British political history.
We were told you can't add more than 2-3% to starting poll figure. We added 16.
We were told policy didnt matter. Our manifesto was the star.
Biggest increase in the Labour vote since 1945.
I was a kid in a working class household when Thatcher was PM. All Labour. But they agreed with her on law and order. The Monarchy. Lots of working class people voted for her. Then, as now, some on the left need to look at *why* they voted that way.
Seen more than one or two tweets complaining that Starmer is clearly just chasing Tory votes with his latest announcement. Yes. That's the fucking point. You don't win without them.
The new Mayor of North Yorkshire is from the Labour Party - Starmer hasn't just parked his tanks on Sunak's lawn, he's smashed through the walls and is in the living room . Tories are gaslighting themselves if they think this leads to a hung parliament.
Since we are all getting nostalgic for Thatcher, the reason Kinnock is a political hero of mine is he started the long process of taking on and beating the hard left which resulted in Labour finally getting back into power. Starmer is taking us back too, which why they hate him.
I mean I voted remain but yet again the reaction to anything from Labour that isn't entirely based on giving ultra remainers everything they want and within the 1st year of a Labour government just shows how incapable they are of accepting political reality.
Currently Corbynites are explaining me that Lanour did not win the Selby and Ainsty seat at all. What actually happened is the Tories stayed home. Which means it doesn't count or something 🤪
Starmer's speech was all about what is right and just and what is possible rather than giving in to the easy options that would please his Party but wouldn't change anything in the conflict. That's what you should want from a PM.
Starmer was good and measured in tone at PMQs as was the PM. If you think Corbyn nearly destroyed the Party at the last election he would have finished us off completely if he were opposite the PM today.
I don't pay much attention to Jack Monroe but reading through some of her "thrifty" ideas this morning and I find it really hard to believe Jack has ever understood what working class/ poor people's lives look like. A middle class idea of what living in poverty looks like.
These were New Labour's 5 pledges before the 1997 GE. Compare and contrast the minimal pledges to what Labour *actually achieved in government* and calm the f**k down.
Seeing lots of 'well, Blair had a big majority and was happy to tolerate the socialist campaign group, Corbyn, Mcdonnell, and the rest' rebelling continuously. And how did that work out for the party at the very end?
Coming from a working class background I've seen countless Lee Anderson's - he's the pub bore in the corner sounding off about political correctness gone mad whilst people look for an escape route. Says a lot about Sunak that he thinks such a man speaks for working people.
Feel for the Labour guy, but there's zero point even trying to engage with people like this. They just want to shout a bit, make themselves feel better in their self-righteousness and then go home having achieved the grand sum of f*ck all.
This is going to be Labour Canvassers experience across the country come
#GE2024
They will quickly see that many are not buying the sound bites and carefully crafted press releases.
All Labour door knockers had better buckle up, it’s going to get bumpy.
Whether you approve of the ad or not Labour are using the exact same tactics against Sunak that the Tories have and will use against Starmer and I'm getting a little sick of the confected outrage from certain hacks.
Sorry run it by me again why *did* so many working class people turn their back on Labour when Corbyn and his mates were in charge of the Party? Real mystery to me.
Three years ago Corbyn and his followers helped to elect the Tories and almost destroyed Labour. And today they are attacking Starmer and trying to undermine the Labour Party's chances at the next GE. They will never change.
Starmer contrasting a billionaire PM with Rayner's tough working class background was neat, and I think probably feeds into a view from many voters who see rich men gunning for a working class woman. Obviously, it demonstrates confidence in Rayner's legal case, too.
#pmqs
Seen that tweet and yeah the Deputy PM in a Labour government will be a working class woman, born into poverty who through hard work, determination- and help from the last Labour government -will be sat at the top table in government. Get used to it, lads.

So you're saying a "significant block" of *anti Tory voters* just accidentally voted for the Lib Dems in seats where they were the most likely candidate to beat the Tory Party and therefore this isn't tactical voting. Sounds about right 🙄
Just a reminder that what the Mail regards as bombshell evidence and proof of wrongdoing turns out to be a pile of horseshit when the police cast an eye over it. So I'll take the latest 'revelations' on soft furnishings with a pinch of salt, ta all the same.
Starmer is making a huge mistake if he doesn't throw the Rochdale candidate overboard. I'm a Labour member, but if that was my constituency, hell would freeze over before I voted for Ali. Dump him. Get rid. Zero tolerance means precisely that.

Labour will go for Sunak big time. Some of my lefty friends might even feel a bit queasy about the 'tone' of some of Labour's campaign. But frankly that's tough. This election is too important to allow the Tories any opportunity to gain any kind of advantage

What you're seeing today is the Labour party going through due diligence on all its candidates. What you're seeing from Sunak is a man who is too weak to stand up to his.
