You know who the most vaccinated group in America is? Physicians and their families. If all the mechanics said to use synthetic oil and used it themselves, you'd probably follow suit.
@KirstenPowers
This is a little like saying, "If you think stealing is wrong, don't steal from anyone." We think the act of killing is wrong and seek to protect the innocent from being killed.
@timkellernyc
deserves a lot more credit than he gets from many of my fellow conservatives. People want to push him into the evangelical left, but I think he is an exemplar of care and restraint. More important, it is clear to me that he keeps the first things first.
Why are private schools mostly open and public schools often closed? Because parents have power in private schools since they can withdraw and stop paying tuition.
Podcasters of the world, I suspect I speak for many when I say we want information density and not you and your friends horsing around for 30% of the time.
On Tim Keller: If you're such a culture warrior you can't make common cause with a guy who has given his life to preaching the gospel and who proclaims the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, then it may be your political concerns have gone from penultimate to ultimate.
Yesterday, I posted the following: "Heterosexual marriage is the ultimate commitment to diversity. Rather than like seeking like, it is one pairing with the other who is physically and emotionally different."
Conservative Christians in my tribe: I just want you to notice that some of the folks often derided as woke are standing up hard for the unborn right now. Don't miss that.
I'm gathering a list of propositions the culture uses to catechize our children. Tim Keller has produced a few such as "Love is love" or "I have to be true to myself." What are some others?
I see David Gushee appealing to evangelicals to change their mind about human sexuality b/c people are leaving the church. Christian faith has nothing to do with a poll. The crowd turned its back on Jesus. With Peter we say, "Where would we go, Lord? You have the words of life."
I'm not naming names, but if you find yourself wondering why some pro-lifers who doubled down hard on Never Trump are quiet when they should be celebrating Dobbs, the answer should be fairly clear.
If you want to minimize the continuing impact of COVID, get vaccinated. The more people we get vaccinated, the more we can keep variants down, the more immunity we can maintain. Please get vaccinated.
My whole life I have been a huge believer in systems (the free market) and rules (the Constitution). One thing I am learning is that if you don't have human beings with virtue and character, the systems and rules can't do much for you. No system or rules are so good that they
I saw James Carville on the Cuomo show over the summer warning Democrats that they were worried about what the "faculty lounge" thinks instead of the people and would lose elections because of it. Score one for James Carville.
What went wrong with Southwest is what went wrong with Boeing is what went wrong with Intel, etc. When you replace the technical people who love the thing and understand it with a financial executive, you lose the excellence that made it all work.
As a woman, she simply saw things from another perspective and thought to do things I would not think to do. What I'm saying is that marriage is a process of discovering the differences between male and female and learning to love and appreciate them.
A young person recently expressed his interest in Satanism. "Satanism isn't really about Satan," he said. "Instead, it's about critical thinking, the separation of church and state, and social justice." It would be hard for me to think of a better pitch for the father of lies.
Mike Lindell is a private citizen who used his platform and resources to discuss the 2020 Election. He held symposiums where he presented his theories. Whether you agree or not, that’s up to you. But no American should be intimidated or targeted by the FBI for expressing opinion.
Environmentalists, I understand you, I do. But it's time to face the fact that the U.S. as a major petroleum producer stabilizes international politics. You'll make bigger threats that are closer to us by blocking production.
I'd like to build on that by saying that many men are basically what I would call "insufficiently heterosexual." In other words, they generally prefer sameness EXCEPT that they value women for their anatomical difference.
I once went to lunch with a pastor to think about joining his new church plant. His treatment of the waitress was all I needed to see. No chance. I don't know if people realize how much weight many of us place on this indicator.
You want to know who said Herschel Walker was going to lose early, early on?
@EWErickson
He said why, too. There were GOP Georgians who just couldn't vote for Walker and stayed home.
However much I valued my wife when we married, I came to love and value her more once we had children together because I could so easily see what she brought to raising children that was different from what I had to offer.
A deeper commitment to heterosexuality involves learning to value women for all the ways they are different. As an example, I would say many men (including me) become more heterosexual (in this sense) through the process of parenting.
It's a wild thing to leave your work home of 14 years to start anew, but the people of
@NGreenvilleUniv
have made my first day a really great one. Thanks, everybody.
It is a big day around here as
@hunterbaker
officially begins his work as the new provost and dean of the university faculty at
@NGreenvilleUniv
. I’m excited to once again work alongside one of the sharpest thinkers and friendliest humans in evangelical higher education.
I have to tell you that I have never understood why it is hard to make an admission of error. If we would do that instead of doubling down every time, there would be far more trust and goodwill among people. There is nothing wrong about admitting a mistake in judgment.
I heard a phrase today we should all keep in mind: "Conflict entrepreneurs." People are selling you stuff all day and night. Conflict is one of the things they are selling.
Important distinction on the Brooks NYT evangelicals piece. It isn't evangelicals confessing their sins. It's evangelicals confessing the sins of OTHER evangelicals.
I know it has been there all along, but I'm devastated by the devotion many of my fellow citizens have to killing of unborn children as a strategy for a good life.
The country’s first and only Latina senator is quite literally the Democrat most at risk of losing her Senate seat next month.
@realcpaz
explains the high stakes of the Nevada race.
Saying "I represent science" is a bit like a religious leader claiming to represent God. The temptation to claim the greater authority while not acknowledging one's mistakes is ever present.
Problem with Fauci's "I represent science" isn't that he represents expertise or has been wrong, but that he (1) has often been wrong about judgment calls without a scientific basis & (2) persistently acts like a spinning politician in refusing to acknowledge errors & flip flops.
DeSantis is out. I just hope this is his Nixon 1962 moment and that he'll be back. The guy turned a two time Obama state into a 59% win in 2022. How? Governing.
I spent the first 49 years of my life with electric ranges. I got a house with a gas range a few years ago. The realization of what I'd missed was immediate. There's just no comparison.
Have you ever noticed that we only hear about a "conservative majority" issuing rulings for the court? I don't think I ever saw a news story about a "liberal majority" doing anything. That's because liberal is considered legitimate and natural.
I've been an Anglican priest for 30 years. I love everything about my job and wouldn't do anything else. But I don't believe in God. I reckon a decent sized minority of my peers are the same.
Doctor: Well, you could marry a neo-Marxian critical theorist and move to Kansas.
Patient: Will that allow me to live longer than a year????
Doctor: No, but the year will SEEM much longer. And when death comes . . . you'll be ready for it.

Demand for changes such as letting women be priests, allowing the blessing of gay marriages and revising teachings on sexuality has grown strong. But their pleas in Rome seem to have fallen on deaf ears
The First Amendment does not permit you to take over a building that does not belong to you. Full stop. It's not even a close call. You cannot legally do it.
Such persons often immigrated to new communities of esteem and benefitted from what is sometimes called "strange new respect." If you're getting the strange new respect, you may not want to draw attention to the pro-life cause as it will alienate new allies.
The NYT's breathless stalking of Justice Alito is pathetic and absurd. Justice Ginsburg was completely free to be an unabashed left-wing liberal. Give it a rest.
I read a NYT profile on Mike Johnson, which described the ADF as an "anti-gay rights organization." Does the NYT refer to David French as a former employee of an "anti-gay rights organization" or would they refer to him as a former religious liberty attorney?
@ianbremmer
@elonmusk
I want him running social media 100%. I'm not a Trump fan, but I would like to see what the former president, for example, has to say about current issues.
@elonmusk
will reject our current frailty and lack of appreciation for free speech. Plus, bring back the Babylon Bee!
America's female collegiate swimmers are in a bad position. They can either accept losing to a biological male or complain about it and be cancelled in addition to losing. Talk about a no-win situation.
I can’t let Dan stand alone. I’ve been involved with ERLC for about a decade. ERLC advocates for life and religious liberty. I do not receive a stipend from the organization.
#sbc24
Which is an interesting thing to say while at the same time ERLC is hosting an event detailing their record number of public comments in opposition to Biden’s rule-making and talking to VP Pence about the reversal of Roe. While detailing their state by state work on life and
I understand that the protesters feel strongly about their cause, but they don't have the right to put great treasures of art at risk for it. Imagine if everyone with a cause acted this way.
The law is a teacher. While it is true that a post-Roe U.S. will have states with liberal abortion laws, the very fact that some states will prohibit it helps people understand that abortion is wrong. And that is what some cannot tolerate.
I'm on a campus where young people are busy taking finals instead of putting graduation in doubt with mass demonstrations. If you disagree with the American government, go to Washington, D.C. Don't ruin opportunities for the ones who want to take care of business at school.
Christians, examine your life. Is there fruit? I don't just mean do you have right doctrine. Too many rest just on that. Do you have fruit? Does your life exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)? Is there any evidence of
Bart Barber may go down as one of the least well known presidents of the Southern Baptist Convention. Why? He is not a ceaseless platform builder & a promoter of his own name. Bart is modest, has good judgment, & is unlikely to say the kinds of things the press wants him to say.
The Supreme Court has betrayed democracy. Its members including Jackson, Kagan and Sotomayor have proved themselves inept at reading comprehension. And collectively the "court" has shown itself to be corrupt and illegitimate.
It must be dissolved.
I lost a hundred pounds slowly over the course of years. It has improved my life tremendously. Don't let influencers and cynical marketing campaigns convince you to be fat and happy. They're enabling your pain and early death.
I grew up in the deep south, by which I mean Decatur, AL and Pensacola, FL. Anyone who thinks we didn't learn about slavery is misguided. The two things I remember the most from public school history are the American Revolution and slavery. It was covered extensively.
I anticipated negative comments from the PD piece today would be from the right. They are overwhelmingly from the left. I guess they think I'm trying to escape the post-Trump reckoning. I'm not. I was very precise in my reasoning. I'm no man of the left. Can't apologize for that.
I have to quibble. We've lost the idea of the liberal arts, which are the arts of liberty. In other words, the liberal arts are the education appropriate to people who wish to govern themselves. Citizens rather than subjects. We have to recover that.
I implore anyone who would give a child or teen hormones, drugs, & surgery to accomplish or begin a "transition" to reconsider your position. You are participating in nothing less than mutilation of a natural body. They will never be the same afterwards. Regrets will be titanic.
The unfairness of the trans athlete issue is easily exposed by focusing on a single fact. There is no female athlete who will dominate a sport she decides to participate in as a man. That means all the impact cuts in one direction and costs are borne by women.
Just got back from taking food to the wife working at the hospital. She gave me a stat that got my interest. The people on the ventilators? 0% vaccinated.
I hope I live to see a day when no one will be so callous as to speak of abortion the way today’s pro-choicers do. We somehow celebrate abortion in the age of the ultrasound on the refrigerator door.
I rarely call things stupid, but the European Parliament voting to disapprove the S. Ct. repeal of Roe v. Wade is, in fact, stupid. It's as if they don't understand how courts operate. The court wasn't saying yes or no on abortion. They were ruling on how the constitution works.
Florida where “woke goes to die” sure has a lot of drag shows with minors in attendance… Disgusting. Didn’t DeSantis say he was cracking down on this like a year ago?!
Perverts who sexually dance around children should be arrested.
The kiosk at McDonald's wasn't working well, so I stepped up to the counter. The supervisor pointed to me and told the young woman at the register, "If an elder like him comes up, you can serve him, but other folks need to use the kiosk to order." I can barely breathe.
