Excellent blog post on the scale-up of HIV treatment in Africa. Fortunately there were a series of economics papers that showed the 'Lazarus effect' of treatment on economic outcomes as well -- it helped offset some of the arguments that are (rightly) critiqued here.
New from me: “How economists got Africa’s AIDS epidemic wrong” In the '00s, cost-effectiveness analysis said sending HIV drugs to low-income countries was a bad use of money--drugs that ended up saving millions of lives. Have we learned our lesson? 1/
