ive been thinking about how some ppl keep saying that seunghan’s hiatus was completely his decision. i believe seunghan’s words and trust his choices, but as sm posted the official notice & has been actively removing seunghan from old content, i feel like that cant be 100% true.

its crazy to me how some fans dont realize that sm is very much testing the waters (aka seeing the fandom/market reaction to 6 member promotion/activities). like…sm has imo always been one of the most business/profit focused of the larger entertainment companies.

as someone who used to run a fairly large updates account for another group on tumblr (lmao) for yrs, this utilizing survey results n letting it control how u address an issue is wild to me. joining a boycott or not should be up to an individual/team no matter how big the acct.

i believe that he will be back since i trust his words, but when people say that this was 100% seunghan’s decision i feel like that’s a bit too trusting of sm. also the way some ppl r vilifying seunghan fans who want him back? maybe try think about if ur bias was in his position.

it’s not a lot to ask sm for an update when theyve remained silent for over 100 days about seunghan. if they provided updates and reasons for their actions, maybe we could be more understanding, but we literally only have got his hiatus notice and its been radio silence since.

like ive been into kpop since 2010, my first fave group being from sm so maybe thats why for me it feels so obvious to me? also its so clear that the other members r being overworked too. during a time that they should be given a break, theyre more active than ever before…

this entire situation is messed up and has been handled horribly by sm. he shouldnt even be on hiatus in the first place. so is it so bad that we just want sm to say something? and to treat the fans who have supported him this entire time as the bad guys is so fucking upsetting.

me too…i casually listened to riize from when siren released, but at the end of the day seunghan was the one who made me a fan. his presence is needed to complete riize. without him how am i supposed to keep stanning them?

솔직히 승한이가 어떤 선택을 해도 끝까지 응원할건데. 아이돌 그룹으로 데붜하려고 어린나이부터 열심히 연습하고 작년에 드디어 데뷔했던 애라 100일전에 활중 시켰던 회사때문에 그 꿈을 포기 안했으면 좋겠어. 그런 의미에서 우리가 보이콧을 하는건데 제발 오해하지 마시길.

i think the larger amount of akgaes is due to a combination of how sm forms their groups + how they promote them. it just attracts a different crowd of fans than groups of other companies…

rather than trying to help the artists, it feels like it’s just there for show…like an attempt to “soothe” the fans. we do all the work of finding and reporting the false info & hate, but sm just treats these reports like junk mail…

그와중에 미국 팬덤 크기를 파악 못하고 공연장 너무 크게 잡는 회사들이 많아. 그리고 팬콘 공지를 월요일에 올리고 티켓팅을 아무 홍보없이 금요일에 하는게 진짜…미국팬들이 얼마나 많아도 이 짧은 시간안에 티켓팅을 하는게 진짜 말도 안되고 특히 LA에서만 하는거라 못가는 팬분들이 더 많은듯.

i think one major reason is that sm doesnt really focus on promoting the synergy formed through their groups. for sm, a group seems to serve as a vessel for individual members. they then push the responsibility of creating that synergy in the group to the members.

미국에서 여러 아이돌을 좋아하는 팬분들이 대부분이니까 라자들이 좋아해도 안가는 팬분들이 많은듯. 2021년부터 케이팝 아이돌들이 미국에서 공연이나 투어들을 엄청 많이 하고있어서 돈이나 스케줄때문에 해외에서 엄청 인기 많은 그룹외에 거의 항상 자리가 남더라고.

at the end of the day, the boycott is not mandatory and those participating may have their own way of boycotting that is different from me. these are just some things that i plan to do, so i just wanted to post for people who are lost as to where to start.
I personally think that boycotting the fancon is going to be hard because we have to consider that the rest of the members have to perform in a venue that is half empty. It will be heartbreaking. I think other options are doable.

rather than feeling hurt by the fans who are boycotting i think it's important to realize that none of this would have to happen if (1) sm didn't put seunghan on hiatus, (2) sm updated us about seunghan & actions being taken to protect seunghan and the other members
