trans men are often called 'self-made men' and in a sense, that's what happens with ken at the end of the movie. he's trying to figure out what it is to be a man and that it doesn't have to be what the 'real world' portrays as manhood. being a man is just... being himself

i saw a lot of myself in ken (thankfully not the whole ✨patricary era✨) but the way in which he's navigating what it means to be a man. he's going in blind and he messes up tremendously when he's faced with how the real world is in regards to men.

okay so, as someone who was assigned female at birth, i was brought up 'as a girl' meaning i experienced everything every other girl experiences. the struggle to the prettiest, the cleverest, the kindest etc etc. all struggles we see talked about in the movie
