I’m tired of colonizers and their “you were all slaughtering each other before!” Native people knew how to resolve conflict through games (ex. lacrosse, shoe game) or even through ceremonies to forgive. There were moral teachings in our conflict resolutions.

The white woman was uncomfortable and that was her problem. I encounter white people that make me uncomfortable every day, but I can’t even call the cops on them because the justice system isn’t even comfortable w me. 🤷🏽♂️

My paternal grandparents, Helen & Jon Herder, raised 12 kids in this hogan (traditional Navajo home). The windmill was their water/lifeline that sustained their livestock & lives.

Congress passed the American Indian Religious Freedom Act in 1978 to ensure “access to sacred sites.” Forty years later, Native Americans still struggle to protect their sacred lands.
