Intertribal warfare was NOT the same as Eurocentric conventional warfare. Intertribal warfare did not resolve conflict by committing genocide against another Native nation. Warfare was limited among Native people.

If only settlers were to simply Google “Navajo Code Talkers” and do a little reading, they’d know that the language they tried to beat out of my ancestors is the same language that kept their nation alive.

As long as Native people exist on these lands you call “america,” english will remain a foreign language. I can’t go two or three days w/o colonizers feeling too entitled. Feels more & more like colonizers will remain racist.

Although Kacey has GREAT lyrics & looks so damn beautiful. There’s something strange about her wearing Navajo jewelry w/o giving Navajo silversmiths & culture any credit. That’s bcuz Non-Native artists love to culturally appropriate for their own gain.

I’ve seen this post circulating on FB. A white person took the photo. A white person sketched it and is now selling prints. Did the Diné másaní (Navajo grandma) give proper consent to take the photo? Was she paid for her photo? Is she getting a percentage of each print sold?

I’m tired of colonizers and their “you were all slaughtering each other before!” Native people knew how to resolve conflict through games (ex. lacrosse, shoe game) or even through ceremonies to forgive. There were moral teachings in our conflict resolutions.

It wasn’t until colonizers came and introduced their conventional warfare of total destruction to these lands that Native people began to fight each other. Even then, it was the colonizers (French, English, and the Spanish) manipulating Natives to fight against one another.

For our survival, Native people had no choice but to aid the colonizers. For our survival, warfare between Natives increased since colonizers wanted to procreate and exploit all of our natural resources. We were forced to move and fight for our survival.
