What standards were changed to allow unqualified people to get jobs? Every job I’ve ever gotten, if I wasn’t qualified for it, I never even got a call back for. The problem is white men were use to just getting jobs because they were white. Now they actually have to be qualified. So when they don’t get a job they aren’t qualified for, they don’t say “oh well, I’m not qualified”… instead they say “damn DEI gave some minority folk my job!”

Oh geez, I don’t even know where to start in arguing with someone as dumb as you. First, Trump had no knowledge of the qualifications of the people when he put the freeze on. Second, it was a freeze on all employees. Third, you don’t think gutting the safety committee made the aviation in the country less safe? Lastly, how do you know the ATCs hired weren’t “worth shit”?… You don’t know that. All ATCs go through the same rigorous training. And newsflash, dingus, the policy on ATC training has been in effect since 2013 and hasn’t been changed. It was in place during Trumps first term too. Yet we’ve gone all this time, since 2009 actually, without a commercial mid air collision. But 9 days after Trump takes office and makes these sweeping changes we have our first one, and you don’t think his changes had anything to do with it??

You’re not completely wrong here, surprisingly. Yes, DEI has roots based in the Civil Rights act. But current day DEI is not that. The civil rights act pushed for diversity based policies, yes. DEI doesn’t push that narrative. Its difference is that it simply says, not to exclude them from the process. It doesn’t push hiring minorities, it just says don’t exclude them. There is a difference. Now, can companies use that idea wrong, yes they can. Is that a DEI policy, as it’s written, problem… no. That’s a problem with how the company is enacting the policy. And there are measure to take for that. The answer isn’t to simply remove all DEI policies nationwide.

That was affirmative action, which, I don’t necessarily agree with. AA was designed to promote opportunity for marginalized communities. DEI just says you can discriminate against marginalized communities. The difference being, AA pushed for hiring more black people. DEI simply says, you can’t make policies to push or exclude minorities.

Actually, everything I said was true. Before the DC crash, the last mid air collision involving commercial airlines was on 2009, 16 years ago. “Prior to this incident, the last major fatal crash involving a U.S. commercial airline occurred in February 2009 near Buffalo, New York. Colgan Air Flight 3407, operating as Continental Connection, crashed into a house during its approach, resulting in the deaths of all 49 people on board and one person on the ground.” You can also look up all the things Trump did to the FAA, TSA and Aviation safety board when he became president. See, thing is, I can prove my claims, cause they are true. You can’t prove my claims are false.

Never said it protects after the fact, but since you brought it up, it actually does. DEI prevents them from being fired just for being a color or orientation, so, once again you are incorrect. Secondly, people don’t get jobs they aren’t qualified for… just because they are black, gay, etc., that’s not what DEI does. If that is happening that’s a problem with the company and the hiring manager, not DEI. DEI does not say you have to hire someone black, it just says you can’t exclude them from the process just because they are black.
