Mesa Robles sixth-grader Ellie Liu took center court on January 31, performing the national anthem ahead of the South Bay Lakers’ game against the Texas Legends. The night also brought a special connection—Hacienda La Puente Unified alum Jarod Lucas, a graduate of Mesa Robles and Los Altos High School, now plays for the Legends and took a moment to congratulate Ellie after her performance.#proudtobehlpusd

HLPUSD understands the concerns about immigration enforcement near schools. We want to reassure our community that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remain our top priority. Schools provide not only academic learning but also stability, emotional support, and routine—critical for student development. We encourage all students to continue attending school regularly. For the full message, please check ParentSquare, and visit our Immigration Resources webpage at for more information and support.
