Our result is the first report to show that CO2 exposure leads to daytime sleepiness through a clinically guaranteed procedure in the strictly regulated population. Our result would provide the conclusion to the debate on the effect of CO2 on daytime sleepiness.

Additionally, we found that fatty acid binding proteins in astrocytes play a lesser role in transporting fatty acids to mitochondria for β-oxidation. These findings provide new insights into the brain's energy metabolism through the consumption of fatty acids.

In this study, we revealed that murine astrocytes show a preference for saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, such as palmitic and oleic acid, for β-oxidation over polyunsaturated fatty acids.
